Is race alcohol at the track the same as methanol we use in water/**** kits? I need to fill my water/**** tank with 50/50 and wanted to know if I can just purchase the race alcohol at the track and mix it with distilled water. Everywhere else I have to wait a week to get methanol in.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I would guess so, but you should be able to ask the track people for an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for the fuel they sell. It is organized for addressing safety, health, or fire issues but should be clear on what percentage of what stuff is in the product - sort of like a nutrition guide for food.

The only thing there might be in it is a ester or glycol based lubricity additive. Raw fuel on mechanical pumps, cylinder walls, etc, is kind of rough.

I use -40 Windshield washer antifreeze in mine. It's a 50-50 mix. Summer WW antifreeze (25-w75%) is what's usually recommended for used in water/**** injection systems. Some use gas line antifreeze (Isopropanol?). I've been using WW for 20,000mi with no problems.
