A bit of heat from a heat gun or hair dryer will help soften the decals. But, I would bet that a image will be left behind. Just be careful with the heat. Maybe a local sigh shop can make you a pair of the decals in a color you like better than the yellow?

I've posted about using dental floss or fishing line for removing emblems, but don't know how it would help to remove a decal. How much has the car been in the sun? That may effect how much of a "ghost" image there will be.
