Need a little help!!! Purchased my first Viper 3 months ago, 93 rt/10 Lost a rod bearing, in under 1K. We took down the motor and tried to have crank turned. Can't be turned because no bearing to match. Called Dodge dealer, no parts only complete crate motor (not even a short or long block). Looking for complete crank kit. (crank shaft, main bearings, rod bearings to match)

Need a little advise!!! If I go crate motor would like to go Gen 2 for more HP, plus I found one cheaper than Gen 1. Need to know what problems to watch out for!

Call Doug Levin at 305-249-7223. He is getting ready to order some right now...the ones he has are a lot stronger than the stock ones and I am sure cheaper cost too. Call him now if you need it..he will give you a good price.

I do know some places can repair cranks. I have never had this done but it may be worth checking out. Most of the time I hear about this it is on industrial engines.

I would just go with a new stronger crank than try to band aid one...no offense..but that way while you have the engine apart...you can do some cool stuff while you're at it.

I've only owned the car for three months, 3K miles but I'm hooked! I don't want to rebuild the crank. New and stronger crank or brand new crate motor, is what I'm thinking. I've emailed Vip-RT10 because he put a Gen 2 motor in his Gen 1 viper. I believe I'll need a new wiring harness. Hoping that will be the only problem.

Call Doug Levin Motorsports, they build a lot of engines and may even have a crank for you. As far as I know there are no crate engines available.

I got a crank from Todd at Arrow Racing Engines. Also, they can do a complete rebuild as well. Good place to get rings, pistons or what ever you might need for a motor rebuild. Very good folks there with tons of great info when doing a rebuild.

Just went through a complete engine rebuild a year ago and picked up a 100 RWHP with just heads / cam and Headers. Also when I rebuilt the motor I used Clevite Rod Bearings as what was recommended by several engine rebuilders, since they are much stronger than stock.

Just in case you need it. Arrow's contact info is under market place / performance parts. Or you can call and ask for Todd @ 248-852-5151.
