No light came on at a little below empty, so I think there's no light and the owner's manual has no mention of one. I put in a little over 17 galoons into a 19 gallon tank. The gauge is pretty accurate.

I'll take a light for my 2000 GTS.
Ran it out of gas once  and have come close a few times

short throw shifter, polished intakes, K&N air filters, Optima battery,
( how come know one told me I was spelling Baer wrong?) :smirk:

What makes you think a light would be any more accurate than a gauge?

My 97 is empty when it reads 1/3.
My 98 still has 4 gallons left on E.

As long as I know where the marks are then that's fine with me.

Slightly off topic: is the fuel pump an in-tank unit on genII Vipers? If so, wouldn't running the car out of gas be pretty ******* the pump since in-tank designs rely on the fuel to cool the pump?

lol Nope. How long are you gonna run the pump when it runs out of gas? Unless it overheats in 5 seconds or so, I don't see any probs with it getting too hot.

Actually the pump in Dakotas has been known to suffer from this failure when the truck is run out of gas. I have no personal experience with this but I've seen the issue come up several times on the Dak R/T ML

MoparMan is correct. Even the Chysler Minivans have this problem. The fuel cools and lubricates the pump. When you run out of gas, they can seize up.

Worse than just heating up when running out of gas the pump will run warmer than usual right before running out as available gas drops under the top of the pump to the bottom, not good.

The SRT has a light and a warning chime. Let the flames begin!

So that's why they are so much more expensive than the Gen II Vipers.

The flames have begun. :headbang:
