When I installed new headers I scratched a perfect valve cover. I found the exact color match in a high temperature paint. The paint is "Dupli-Color", #DH 1608 High Heat Red. I merely sanded the scratch with a 200 grit emery paper and lightly coated the entire cover. After it dried, I use the same emery paper on the unfinished ribs on the top of the cover. The result is a cover that looks new.

It takes longer to take off the covers then to do the touchup. Close to 1-1/2 hour per side. I found the paint at an auto parts chain, Murrys. Dupli-color is a popular brand and can be found just about anywhere.
