My hood won\'t stay up.....

Can one of you fine Viper folks instruct me on how to adjust the hood. It wants to close all the time when in the fully open position.

Hmmm, that may not be adjustable. Staying open is probably relative to the strength of the coiled springs on the hood assembly.

I have a frind who has a 97 GTS with the same problem. He is having the springs replaced under warranty!!

Kurt, I think you just answered my question. I just went out to check it out and it is the lower set of springs. I will drive by my local dealership and see if they can do it for me sometime soon.

I've noticed the older it gets the more difficult it is to keep it up.

This is a known problem that some of the springs did not get the proper heat treat and are too soft in hardness. This causes them to take a set after a while which causes your hood to fall. I had the same problem on a 97 and the warranty covered the replacement.

I am so glad to hear it is common. It is those uncommon things that I dislike. They turn out to be a nightmare. hahaa

My hood did the same thing. I replaced the springs ($125.00) and now I can position it where ever I want (i.e. half closed etc.) and it stays right there.

I wondered about the hood positioning but did not know how to ask it. hahaha Thanks for reading my mind.
