I am getting ready to order some clear corner lights. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to install them. I hear it is a challenge. Thanx!

Well, since you're not local, I can't physically help, but here goes an explanation:

1. Get a short 10mm wrench and get your clear corner covers.
2. Remove the 6" or so diameter black "plug" from the rear of front fascia in front of the front tire.
3. Optionally turn the steering wheel so that the tire is angled inward for more working room (wasn't sure whether that really helped from my experience).
4. Reach your hand (right hand if on left side, or vice versa) through the opened hole in the front fascia (where the large black "plug" was removed), and reach toward the back side of the corner light cover. Depending on the available lighting and the gap of the front fascia from the headlight, you might be able to look down and somewhat see what you are doing.
5. Possibly by hand (but likely initially by 10mm wrench), unwind the bolts (there are 2) on the back of the light cover. By looking at your covers to be installed, you can get an idea for how they are screwed on. The rearward bolt is much harder to access and remove.
6. Once you have removed both bolts (be careful as they are easy to drop and will fall down into your front fascia, requiring you to blindly reach around for them), pull the cover out slightly (not too hard, the light itself is still attached). Then twist the light so as to remove it from the cover.
7. Reattach the light to the back of the new light cover, taking note of the little stub on the back of the light cover to see where it will go into the fascia (i.e., the light cover is not reversible). Place the light cover back into the front fascia.
8. By hand, replace the bolts onto the back of the light cover "posts". The front "post" will be a lot easier to access, and you can screw the bolt on it tightly by hand. Try to replace the rear one if possible, but everyone I have seen post other than myself seems to have had problems accessing it (I had problems, but with some creative angling of my arm, was able to do it, but it is far from easy).

That's it! Might take you 15 min or so, the hardest part being the removal and replacement of the rear bolts on each light cover.

THANKS slaughterj!

Great directions. I have a silver/blue GTS that these will look real nice on...

I know pricing has already been discussed in previous post, but save me some time searching. Where is the best pricing on these things, and is there any difference in quality? Also, do you have to change the bulb? I assume the OEM bulb is clear, since the reflector is yellow.

Thanks in advance.

To make this the comprehensive site on clear corners, here's purchase info (some via Snake Bitten):

www.procarparts.com has them for $50 + S/H, and they frequently sell them on ebay for $40 + $8-9 S/H (i.e., they probably mark up the ebay S/H, but you save a few bucks if you wait a few days). With the clear covers, they supply amber bulbs as well. I know of no other locations to buy these. The quality of the covers appears to be just like OEM, they are very nice.

Regarding the stock/OEM bulbs, they are "clear", meaning they look white, but don't put off a totally white light, but rather are a bit yellowish, much like many household light bulbs. Consequently, I elected to not replace the stock bulbs with the amber bulbs, and there is "arguably" some amber color still when lit.

You're welcome. Let me know if you have any problems, and I'll try to "help". Also, as I noted before in my clear covers thread, I'll help anyone in my area / anyone attending ViperDays @ VIR with installation.

It would seem so, but I'm not so sure from my experience it seemed as if you had the outside corner of the tire in your way instead...worth trying though for anyone doing this of course.

Agree with slaughterj up to step 5. I used a 3/8" deep well socket on a small 1/4" rachet to loosen the bolts - but starting with a 10mm wrench probably would also work. I unscrewed the light prior to doing this to give a little more room to get at back nut.

Also tried - unsuccessfully - to get at those bolts through the fog lamps. It did seem to help to turn wheel to full inward lock for additional room. I laid on my back with feet in frount of Viper and did the passenger side with my left arm and the drivers side with my right.

As far as the "ricer" comments - I feel that the clear lights make the front look much cleaner with my chrome three spokes and chrome Viper emblem. Got mine via EBAY for $38 inc shipping.

PS - forget about doing this if you have "Popeye" forearms.

I did mine while the car was on stands over the winter...which was much easier with the tires not in the way...and upon a recco from another car geek...I tinted them slightly with Nite Shades spray tint...

I found this wrench in a 9mm x 10mm (used the 10mm) worked great...
