Some here already know I purchased a red 1997 5,500 mile GTS with headers, exhaust, short shifter, and some side vent grill pieces.. all of these mods minus the exhasut system have been swapped onto my black Roe Supercharged Viper. A week after I bought the red 1997 Viper I found a deal on a black 1999 Roe Supercharged Viper with HRE's.. so clean :) What I'm going to do is keep the black 1999 Viper and sell the red 1997 one, but before I do I have been pulling the mods I want to keep from the red car, this past weekend I took on the task of pulling the headers on the red car and swapping the stock manifolds off the black car, I just finished installing the factory manifolds on the red car but I have a problem, as you can see from the pictures the red car has a "Magnum" 3" exhaust while the black car has a Borla 2.5" exhaust, I think the Borla looks cleaner/better but the Magnum probably flows better, whats your opinion, should I swap exhasut systems too or should I just leave them be... I will have a extra cost to take the cars into a local muffler shop and have a 3" to 2.5" reducer installed on both cars...

I'd definately swap the 3" onto the black car, with it being supercharged your going to want that higher flow...

I can hear Lou Belanger crying all the way over at my house from looking at those pics.

what do you mean by that? I dont have a Belanger exhaust..The black car has a Borla, I think the Borla looks much better, but I used to build 800+HP Supras and one thing that holds true with forced induction, the larger the exhaust the better, thats the only reason I was considering swapping the Magnum exhaust, although the Magnum seems to be rusting while the Borla looks to be made from stainless, more and more I'm leaning on staying with my Borla.

In the 1st pic, what is that first part. I'm assuming its a high flow cat and then a muffler? Or maybe just a resonater then a muffler? I'm not sure.. being that the black car has a straight pipe it might flow better although its a bit smaller.

The clamps mainly, but the tips and positioning. They might work great but man both systems are ugly (not that that matters much when you are driving - or even looking at the car). If you ever have a chance to look at a complete Belanger system you will be astounded by the craftsmanship.

ah ok, yea, the best exhaust is no exhaust on a forced induction car, really the only thing I car about it diameter size and how well the rear tips look, you dont see the rest of it... stainless is a plus, no rust.

If I were in your position I would leave the red exhaust alone as you are selling the car anyway. On your Roe car, get a new B&B or Belanger cat back and run without convertors. If I recall correctly you are headed north of 600 rwhp and this is a small investment to let the car move the boost. :usa: :usa:

Hard to tell from the pictures but from the size looks like a resonator...if you look into it is there any "honeycomb", or can you see straight through?

Guess the question is how much $$ do you want to put into sorting out the exhaust right now, if the red car has 3" pipe with a resonator and a high flow muffler, I'd simply swap it over to the black car your done, supercharged v10 with 3" free breathing exhaust.

Putting the borla on the red car will make it sound really good (especially with no cats), is a good match for the stock exhaust manifolds and is a "feature" you can list when selling it.

Doesn't cost you anything now except some time!

Hey 94, yea its definitly a cat, I assume its a high flow cat. I just tried to pass my socket extention through it and no go.. After looking inside with a flashlight it was your typical honey comb catalytic converter.. I think I'll swap the 3" exhaust over, I can always gut the cat out or cut it off and weld on a straight pipe, the rest of the exhaust is all 3" mandrel bends,
