I am about to purchase a 2006 vert with 190 mi. Thsi is from a local dealer. Car is flawless except for the loud chatter from the engine. Sound just like lifter noise. Very Very loud. Was told by one of the mechanics, probably never worked on a viper, that it is "air in the lifters that it will go away? lol The GM called chrys. tech and they told him to put some sort of fluid that they will overnight to him in the oil and run the car for a short time. Then change the oiland it will be fine. The also said sometimes when a viper sits for a long time the build up carbon, but don't knowe what that has to do with this issue.

Any experience with this??

Thanks for any input.

Sincerely,

Considering a Carerra 4 S

The "lifter" noise is normal. There are many posts on it here and you can do a search and find them.

Also, My brother has a Carrera 4 S. Nice car, but he becomes flush with embarassment everytime he tries to challenge the mighty Viper.
