I've been reviewing this website and forum for years. My only interests is the Viper. I enjoy the reviews and opinions of the crazy Viper owner's on this site.
My 31st birthday is coming up and a gift to myself, after going through a looong divorce, starting over fresh with a new home build purchase, a new line up of cars in the garage..... would be to finally purchase me a new toy. VIPER (Oh, did I mention black SRT-10 Coupe! Not sure about the stripes yet)
This car is a thing of beauty! The beautiful lines of the body, the interior is exceptional, suspension/braking world class and motor capable of unbelievable HP.
The funny thing about this forum is how everyone is soooo concerned about the 2006 C6 Z06. Yes, it's a nice ride, has a complete factory modded out motor and drivetrain and some bell's and whistles. But hell, if it doesn't look like every NEW Vette I've been watching crawling the streets of H-town!
What I don't understand is why the Viper owners are so concerned with this thing. The C6 Z06 is pretty much maxed out by the factory, high compression (11:01), butterfly exhaust and so on and whatever. The only thing left to do would be header's, intake some computer tuning and you may grab an additional 50 some odd HP. Adding a blower would be crazy on a high compression motor unless you pull the heads/pistons etc.
The Viper SRT-10 Coupe on the other hand has sooo much to work with on a baseline of 510 HP and 535 ft lbs. of torque. You KNOW the list of mods you can do to this car! What's funny is, the mod prices are so comparable to the Vette.
Yes the Corvette ZR-1 WAS once King of the Hill back in 1990, but when the SNAKE rolled out for the first time in 1992 it was all over! Dodge hit the nail on the head.
The ZR-1 dropped off in 1995 and Chevy has been trying to come back to compete against an automobile ICON that is not even in the same class! The Z06 can easily be mistaken as a regular Vette but the Viper, well you know, it doesn't go unnoticed.
Bottom line is the Viper is still a Viper and the C6 Z06 is just a vette. It's highly unlikely you roll up on one on the street. Even if you do, only idiots race on the streets, save it for the track.
Sorry for the long post, just had an opinion. Oh, and did I mention the SRT-10 Coupe is just a thing of BEAUTY!!!
