Hello,

We have our NEW and Improved NHRA Approved Roll Bars in stock for immediate delivery!

These new Roll Bars are redesigned so that your factory seat belts can be used AS WELL AS aftermarket NHRA, IHRA, SCCA required 5 point harnesses. We even go so far as to include these approved and labled RJS-Teamtech cam lock style harnesses with our Roll Bars.

These new Roll Bars include the same great features as our previous bars in that they DO NOT in any way, inhibit seat travel or driver/passenger comfort, they include a REMOVABLE sidebar (required by NHRA/IHRA), do not require hacking up your interior, come assembled for easy bolt in installation, and have a very Original Equipment Appearance that will enhance not only your safety but the look and value of your Viper.

The Bars can ship either in bare metal or PowderCoated in BLACK or RED.

Prices are as follows:

Roll Bar with (2) sets of RJS/Teamtech 5 point Harness sets: $ 1,349.00

Roll Bar without harnesses: $ 1,099.00

Powdercoat: $ 125.00

Prices do not include shipping..(shipping averages $ 55.00, ADD $ 25.00 w/belts)

Keep in mind that should your Viper e.t quicker than 11.99 you will be required to have an approved Roll Bar AND harness set in order to run at most NHRA dragstrips..and more and more Vipers are eclipsing the 11 second zone each and every week.

For more info, please check our website at Http://btrviper.com and/or feel free to contact us should you have more questions concerning our Roll Bars or any of our products for your Viper.

Thanks,

Tom

Hey Tom.

I see on your website it says "This Roll Bar is designed to BOLT-IN to your Viper GTS with no modifications."

Does this also apply to RT10s?

If so how difficult is installation, does it require drilling and/or cutting the carpet. If so what do you charge to install the roll bar and 5 point harness?

Can you still use the stock seat belts with the rollbar as I have heard the 5 and 6 point belts are illegal on the street?

Last question, do you offer a 6 point harness set?

Thanks

Hello Michael,

This bar does not fit the RT/10. I have been waiting for an interested party to offer their vehicle for fitment. Would you be a player?? and does your car have a hard top..as we want to fit with a hard top in place.

As for fitment, the bar attaches to factory located mounting positions behind your seats at about neck level, and attaches through the floor behind the seats in the rear corners of the interior. The floor mounts require drilling through the floor and "sandwiching" the floor with mounting plates per the NHRA rulebook. A small cut is made in the carpet in each rear corner so that the 1.75" diameter bar can stick through. Once in place, the installation looks factory and the small incision in the carpet is not visible. This bar can be installed by the do-it-yourselfer in about 4 hours.

As for belts, I have heard but cannot confirm about the legality of aftermarket seat belts for regular driving. I believe the problem lies in the way the factory belts have a retractor mechanism. Make no mistake about it though, your stock belts are poor quality when compared to aftermarket 3" 5 point harness sets. No sanctioning body recognizes stock belts as legal once a certain level of performance is achieved.

In reality, legality issue of seatbelts is not an issue as the new bar allows the use of your stock belts. Simply buckle into the 5 way at the track.

I'm not familiar with 6 way harness sets.

Thanks again for your questions.

Tom,
Your rollbar sounds like a great product and the price seems very fair. I think the reason you can't use the harnesses on the street because they have to be DOT approved. Your right, I think the harnesses are much better and safer. Congrats on another great product.

Cheers,
Chuck

Chuck,

Thanks for the comments. I did some investigating a while back and found that the Carolina's had a lawsuit several years ago involving an older muscle car that crashed using aftermarket seat belts. While the driver sustained injury, it was shown that he would have surely been killed if he was using the factory belts as they were over 25 years old and worn significantly.

The case was based upon the factory belt having a retracting device that keeps the occupant from sliding forward upon impact. Aftermarket belts do not have that device..a loop hole in the legal system(keep the belt tight and you don't move). If one thinks about it, airplanes and race cars don't have seat belt retractors either. The retractor has become a convience item so that the passenger does not have to adjust it each time he enter and exits the vehicle.

In any event, you are right that the harnesses are much safer, and I could not imagine receiving a traffic ticket for wearing a superior life saving device in an automobile.

Thanks for the replies Tom.

I do have a hard top, unfortunately my snake is my daily driver so I can't be without it. If some how you do get one for an RT10 I would want one. I have been banned at the drag tracks around me for no bar. So this that and the added safety is EASILY worth the price you have set.

I am cheap on somethings but safety is most important.

Tom,
In NYS the DMV advised me to be legal I would have to wear my stock belt along with my 5 pts making it a 8 pt
unreal!
I agree the 5pts are much better. and wear them 90% of the time while driving the only time i use the stock belt
is for the 2 min. milk run.

I did ask my local PD about the stock belt or 5 pt and getting a ticket.
They said "as long as your wearing something we're happy :) "

Tom,
I just got a brand new yellow 2001 ACR this week. My first Viper. I liked my Z06 but this is love! Anyway, I am going to need a rollbar in order to participate in my club's road racing series. I don't want the sidebar just the hoops. Can you make it this way? Sometimes a diagonal bar is required also but I don't think my club requires it, although SCCA does I am pretty sure. Where in the trunk do the rear-facing supports attach to?
Thanks!!
Michael

Hello Michael(2001 Yellow GTS ACR)

Yes, we can make you a roll bar without the sidebar. It is a credit of $ 65.00. You can even add it later if you wish.

The rear supports do not enter the trunk, they terminate to bolting points on the upper frame behind the seats. Please see pics at my website.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have or to place your order.

Thanks again,

Tom
