Just finished installing new SSR wheels and Sport Cup tires. These are the anthracite color version (the new ones). Got them from JonB at PartsRack. They look positively sinister.

No installation issues with these 18 inch wheels at all (I have the e-brake relocation kit installed). Clearance to the brakes is more than the stock wheels.

And before I get the 4WD comments I have the lowering caps in the garage. Not sure they are enough but they will help, especially in the back where the new tires are 1.2 inch smaller diameter (the fronts are .5 inch diameter smaller).

Can't wait to get out and see what the traction improvement is and how the lighter wheels/tires feel. I lost 11 lbs for each front and 13 for each rear. A whopping 48 lbs total.

I have a set of the old SSR's in silver with the polished lip. They work really well. These new anthracite SSR's look much meaner.

You may want to black out the center caps too or remove them for a really bad look.

I have found that the cups take a little getting used to. They are very slippery at first, then warm up and get pretty sticky. If you push them too hard, they can get greasy and slippery again. Good luck and take you time getting used to them.

You should consider installing a roll bar with this set up. Viper Days will want one to run with them if you have the cups.

Good luck,

Dan

I thought about blacking out the centers and lugs as well.

Yes, I keep thinking about a roll bar. Prices so far are the limiting factor.

WHEELS look hot!!! When you say new ones? Didn't ssr go out of business and the ones still for sale were blems and recoated/resurfaced thus the dark color.

They really fit nice. Are the front 18x11 did you go with the 285's b/c of the 11 with? Skip had them in 275 and told me that it just didn't look right so i took his adviceand got the 285's.

THANKS RON for the nice photos, and the R+D weight research (and your business.)Ron has set # 1. Ron's tires are 295 F 345R, giving the evil wheels a wider, more macho stance. Snappier turn in and braking as well. The suspension will "feel" lighter because it wont have to work nearly as hard at handling the OE tire-wheel weight.

HEAT CYCLING the tires prior to 1st use will eliminate much of the 'greasiness' that you feel during your first session. We charge $60 / set to pre-heat cycle the tires.

If you want this same package as Ron, INCLUDING new runflat sensors, expect to pay nicely under $3800 complete w/ lugs and caps. If you DONT want or need sensors, save an additional $200 !

IN STOCK, No waiting. Ship USA-48 for $150 or less !!! Thank You

That's a killer deal Jon. :2tu: :2tu:
Sport Cups are nice tires and Jon definitely knows the correct setup for your application. You're going to pull some high G's with 295 Front and 345 Rear. :headbang:
Get them heat cycled as Jon said.
