new vette vs. gen II viper

how close are they, track/strip. anyone met up with a vette?

Been there...that's me in the first video. Yeah, I know, I had a TERRIBLE reaction time, almost 0.8 secs so he had a pretty good lead, and the run wasn't that great either, but hopefully it gives you an idea. I'm still getting used to tracking this vehicle. Viper just didn't feel like it was running right, but I managed to edge him out in the end. He had NOS, but had to turn it off to race in my class.

I own a Z06 and am waiting for my 01GTS to arrive

I don't drag the vette, do HPDE's though.

Stock 02Z06 typically does 12's at the track, takes a lotta modding, great driver and good tires to get into the 10's and 11's

It shouldnt even be a question...The new C6 isnt faster than the C5 Z06 and we know that a "properly driven" Gen II is faster than the C5 Z06 soooooooo......

The Viper will destroy a C6. Plain and simple.

Stock ZO6 run high 12s stock. Vipers with any practice and you're running 12.3 or better.

Now the newe ZO6 that's another story that has yet to have an ending. But my guess is that there will just be bickering back and forth about who's faster stock!

I have driven against MANY Z06's, LT1's and a couple of C6's at the track and none of them could compete with me and the viper.

granted on a road course a lot of it is the driver, but still it wasnt even close

No question Gen II > C6. Now I've seen several stock C5 Z06's run 11.9-12.02 w/ practice but regualar C6 should be no problem.

Now C6 Z06 should be a different story.

I ran my 1996 GTS against a C6 with headers, exhaust and intake at the strip.... I ran 12.1 to his 12.5..... A nice beating..... the next run wasn't so close, I ran an 11.99 and he ran a 11.4..... he was spraying a 150 shot....

I was pretty sure he had something else up his sleeve for that 2nd run, so as soon as the tree started I took off and redlighted to get a nice jump on him.....

so it didn't look that bad..... I was hoping to frazzle em a little off the line...

as for the new Z06..... be realistic here, it's going to trounce any stock Viper in any performance category.... has Dodge given up on the Viper? They knew a LONG time ago this was happening... and nothing... that new mustang with 500HP is coming out as well!

I take it the 11.9-12.02 was on DRs. Cause I haven't seen one break 12.5+ on stock street tires.

No those low 12's and even the 11.9 was on O.E.M. tires., believe it or not they are pretty sticky. MUCH better than the crappy runflats. Keep in mind these are experienced drivers and not the "average Joe" running 11.9 bone stock. As far as you not seeing a Z06 run faster than a 12.5 it must be a crappy track and/or crappy drivers. Low 12's are pretty common of them here.

i ran a 12.3 @119 on stock tires and that was with LOUSY 60' times, easily get it closer to 12 flat or even 11.9's with a better launch
