Hi All,
Well I just picked up a 1996 R/T black with silver strips,
but it needs and oil change. I have always done my own work, so I am going to try to attempt this on my own. My questions are
1. What is everyones opinion on the Slick 50 or Duralube products? I have always put them in my other cars, but this is a bit different.

2. Has anyone used any other filter other than the 16? The ph16, 8a and the 43 are interchangable, but I think the 8A is too long, but the 43 might fit(only to get more volume)? Anybody?

Mike,

Re #2:

A lot of folks use the Mobil 1 filter, M1-204. Autozone sells them as well as some other autopart stores. Or you can buy it online from Mobil 1 at their site. . There are quite a few threads in the archives related to this filter, so you might want to do a search.

Thanks Jay,
I look into the Mobil filter. I should have stated the actual filter I'm using is the Castrol Max Pro Plus. I used the Fram designation only because almost everybody knows them.

I have never heard of any any reputable source recommending them, nor have I read any positive unbiased press. Quite the contrary, I have always been told to avoid oil additives by the people I trust (a CART team crew chief, plus several race engine builders).

I trust Mobil 1 to do it's job and would not dilute or modify it with any additive.

Mike,
If you want to save some money on the smooth tubes, get some (18") of 2 3/4 " truck radiator hose. It works just as well but doesn't come in all the cool colors. See the illustrated upgrade section for the instructions. I cut the tubes with my power miter box to get the angle just right.
