I had my rims powder coated black. I normally paint the rotors aluminum/silver. What color should I paint the rotors now, silver or black?

I would go with silver. With black you won't be able to differentiate between the rim and the rotor hub.

What kind of paint are you planning to use?

I don't know about painting rotors.

First of all, if you have a part that needs to radiate heat, such as a rotor, or a radiator paint is very special.

First of all, most paints are insulators! This is bad. Only special paints should be used where heat dissipation is required.

Second, maximum radiation occurs from a black body. A reflective surface (mirrored) is THE WORST radiation surface. The best is black.

Probably the best thing on rotors would be not to paint them if you plan on getting them hot, however, who knows, there may be some special coatings that may improve heat transfer...

Hi Frank,
The wheels came out great! Thanks to Primo Powder Coating in Hunington Beach.I went with an aluminum 1500' paint. I have been painting once a year to keep the rust down. Came out great. I have never had a problem with the paint. I tried black but then you couldn't see the difference between the rim and the wheel. Set of 3 spokes for sale e-mail for photo's.
