My stock Rotors have a little bit of surface rust visible through the silver paint to the edges.

I am thinking of stripping rust and repainting, does anyone have any tips for what type of paint to use? (I was planning on a high temp paint similar to what You would paint a manifold with)

Also do I need to mask the surface of the rotor or will any overspray be removed when I brake for the first time, without doing anything bad to the pads?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. I cleaned them up and painted with Plastacoat paint it is good for 500 degrees F. It is still holding up for 2 summers. I do not drive all that hard only spirited driving every once in a while. I do not think that this would hold up on a track.

do NOT paint them...POWDERCOAT them.

do it once and do it right. powdercoating lasts something like 150 times longer than any paint you will ever find.

if ya want a great guy to do, PM me and i can help ya out. he did my bottles and smooth tubes. gonna be doing a set of jeep rims for me next.

Paint works well if the peson doing the painting knows what he's doing.I had the calipers on one of my cars painted with epoxy paint and it still looks good after several years of use.
