I had my intake tubes off & noticed some areas in the throttle body before & after the throttle plates that look like they might impede air flow to the engine. Anybody ever have any work done in this area? Any noticeable gains? Who did the work ? Did the engine still idle ok & still have good throttle response ? Thanks to all for any info available !

Well I installed 70mm TB's with my tubes and everyone told me I would NOT see any gains, they were WRONG not only did I gain but I felt it on the SOTP metor.

A few years ago Dan Cragin in conjunction with Caldwell Dev. evaluated(on CDI engine dyno) stock vs a larger throttle body. Result was loss of 1 HP with the larger throttle body. The engine dyno repeatability is likely more than the 1 HP loss recorded. So for all practical purpose zero gain with the larger throttle body.

Just a heads up for folks with big t-bodies. Accufab sells fiber gaskets in 65mm and 70mm. I ordered some so I did not have to hand cut stockers to fit. They are thicker and do not have the high-tech silicone ring of the stockers, but since they are thicker and fiber they might have some phenolic heat barrier value. In any case they are $8/set and so much easier than cutting stockers.

I did some work to the inlet side of my stockers last year, turning a pair of ugly ducklings into swans..

Marginally increasing CFM without the vacuum drop larger TBs would give.

Gains? On often traveled stretches of road, with the car accelerating quickly enough to get you noticed, the car seemed to be feeling more hyper than prior to the mods, spinning the tires where it hadn't before under vigorous part throttle positions in 1st and 2nd.

But I'd done one other CFM mod at the same time else where in the same area, and cannot pinpoint the TB mod by itself as the cause.

The car and later the TBs have since been sold...
