PVO: in USSR days, meant \"Air Force\"

I don't recall all the branches, but there was "PVO Voysk" which was the transport plane branch, "PVO Stranny" which was tactical jets (I think), etc...there were half a dozen branches. I don't recall all of that...I was too busy having fun flying F-14s at the time, and flashing Penthouse pics at the aircrews in the TU-16 and TU-95 Bear recce planes we used to intercept.

If Dodge's skunk works were in Moscow, would it be called "PVO Speedski?"

"PVO Highvelocityski?"

I love that "PVO Speedski" George! But with the "ski" ending wouldn't that be Polish? I would think Russian would read: Speedruska?

"Voyska" in Russian means Military(Army). Voyska-PVO at Kubinka air base, part of Moscows Air Defense Region, had Fulcrum MiG-29s' there as well as troop transports.
