On a 2008 Viper, the oil dipstick has a "safe" zone. The manual states that if you go below the safe zone you should add oil. Question: As with many other cars, does going from the bottom to the top of this "safe" zone take about 1 quart of oil? The owners manual does not say one way or the other. Thanks.

Make sure you are checking it while it is cold. I would recommend putting half a quart in first, letting it sit for 10 or 15 minutes and check it again. Once you get the answer, post it on here for others' knowledge. Sorry I don't have a better answer, but that is an easy one to figure out by trial.

You might want to wait for one of the experts here, but I always thought that when you hit the bottom of the safe zone, it was two quarts on the Viper

Thanks. I checked the oil after the car had been sitting in the garage overnight. The owners manual states to wait at least five minutes after running the engine warm or to wait overnight.
