Hi All,

We just added a few new items to the website under Viper Maintanance Items .

First, the radiator cap with the attached sacrificial anode. We ran one of these in our RT/10 for a week and were surprised to see that there was already corrosion on it. The anode hangs down in the coolant and because it is a softer metal than the aluminum in the engine, it is eaten away by the Electrolytic Metal Erosion (EME) that is taking place inside your cooling system. The slight positive charge in the coolant system will cause corrosion at the weakest point (use a multimeter set on millivolts with the + in the coolant to see it yourself). The anode becomes the weakest point instead of other vital parts of the cooling system. The anode is replaceable when it wears out.

Next, we got tired of getting small scrapes on the underside of the front bumper, no matter how careful we tried to be. The best way we could come up with was to install 1/2" thick polyurethane strips at about 12" apart inder the front bumper of the car. The strips attach using a high strength 3M automotive adhesive. We've subjected ours to some intentionally rough bumps and they have passed our tests with flying colors. Tapered on the front, they are just far enough under the front of the car to not be seen. No tools required and there's no metal to bend and drag if you bump something.
