Has anyone shimmed their engine mounts for additional clearance?? I installed TNT headers on my Gen 1, and I was having clearance issues with the bottom of the collectors touching the frame before the turnouts. I decided to try new mounts, so I purchased the Woodhouse engine and tranny mounts. I installed them, and my clearance issue on the pass side is gone:), but the collector on the driver side is still just touching on the bottom. I though about dimpling the collector slightly, and then I though it may be easier to just put a shim under the new Woodhouse mount on that side, as I need about 1/8 inch.

Thoughts???

I made these out of 0.090 steel and rattle canned them black. Used 2 on the pass side and one on the driver side. Just watch the alignment button on the mount to the chassis notch. Woodhouse says you can trim the pass side one if needed, but not the driver side.

Thanks Dave, do you recall how much the 2 shims raised the engine on that side?

You'll notice that the driver side is actually the same if not even a little lower after the shimming. That's because of 2 shims on the pass side, and only one on the driver side. I was trying to lift and tilt both.

did you have any hood clearance issues with the shims installed? I have a roe, so I need to watch that carefully.

I had shims on the engine mounts when I bought the car. I didn't know and when I install the Roe s/c I had hood clearance issues. I removed the shims and everything was fine. I'm not even sure why the shims were used because I still have 1/4" of clearance on both sides.
Oh, and I have Borla headers if you didn't notice from my sig.

With the Woodhouse mounts, my Roe is just about touching the support on the very back of the hood, thus, I have no room to shim the engine. I am thinking about putting a very small notch in the support of the hood. I am sure the integrity of the hood will not be compromised, been studying it for about 20 min.

I would flatten a spot on the headers before I would cut the hood

another option is buying a diamondback hood
I hear they have 1+" extra clearance from the bulge in the middle
