Had my hisser out this weekend to enjoy the beautiful 75 degree and sunny weather we are having in the Bay Area. Yesterday I am cruising north on I-280 toward San Fran when a black M5 appears. It is an older guy with what looks like his wife. He toys a little, while I continue at my normal 78 m.p.h. cruising speed. He goes around on the left, and pulls away about a 1/4 mile ahead. I waited until there was a good opening in traffic, then I hit it pretty good in the far right lane to close the gap (it is 4 lanes both directions). He saw me coming, so we jumps out from the 4th lane and fends me off.

I get over, come up on his tail, and sit there for him to muster a move. He nails it, and I am sitting there with a lot of pedal left in 4th gear. Probably about 100 m.p.h. at that point, and I back off.

A few minutes later, I am cruising slowly in the far left lane and he makes a pass at me in the far right lane. Traffic had opened nicely, so I waited 'til he got almost even (he had good speed already built up) and punched it. He got even with my nose, but as I went for 5th I had already put a few car lengths on him. Not even close.

[I was impressed with the sound of that 400 h.p. monster when I was right behind him and he hit it hard...it bellowed!!]

Just today I took Skyline Highway over to Half Moon Bay along the ocean and then the Pacific Coast Highway south to Santa Cruz. While merging from the 85 Freeway to 280 north, this Mercedes S430 starts riding my bumper (read: wanting to play). He did well around the corner (it is a long and winding curve) as I was trying to hold back to not scare my passenger.

Then we entered I-280 and I waited for all 280 horses of his to kick it! Once he got up next to me, I actually looked over, smiled, then punched mine in 4th. Needless to say there was no race, but I felt his $85,000 sedan needed to be humbled.

I am having a great time in my new snake ('94 RT/10, now 19,000 mi). I really like this message board and all the owners/fans of Vipers on it. What an amazing wealth of information!

Hell, I've had my Viper since Oct. and the only car that has wanted to play was a Cadillac STS. I see tons of Vettes and Mustangs on the road, Always going the other direction....
