Would appreciate some feedback... Just replaced my rear pipes and muffler with the straight pipes and I noticed some strange stuff, wondering if this is typical.

(1) The bell receiver on the snakeoyl is 1.75" and the bell on the stock setup is 2 5/8". The pipe going into the receiver is 2" from the end to the no-go. Before I pulled the stock pipes the no-go was tight against the bell receiver. After I swapped there is about a 1/4" gap between the end of the snakeoyl bell and the no-go 'cause the male pipe is longer. I clamped it down as-is but I thought it should fit better.

(2) Even though the holes on the bracket mid-way up the system are oval for adjustment, they won't allow you to line up that mid-way bracket and dampning rubber. I will have to take a dremel and widen the oval in order to get it to line up; for now I left it off and there are no rattles. I also thought this was kind of cheesy for a $500+ mod that brags about being built for the Viper, not just with the Viper in mind....

(3) I was surprized that all the bolts on this part of the snake were metric (first wrench I've put to it) I guess they all are. Shows how long it's been since I wrenched on a car.

The "thirty minute job" took me about two hours, a lot of that time trying to wrestle together the pipes that don't fit. I finally measured everything which prompted this post. Anyone else notice this or did I get an odd-ball setup?

Hey Matt, How's it? By no-go I mean the ring on the pipe that comes back from the cats: just a little bulge about the size of a weld bead that goes around the OD of the male pipe that slides inside the sub assembly. It is about 2" from the end of the pipe that slides in, I guess it's there to keep you from pushing the male end in too far.

I got a deal on this part from a friend who is "very, very well respected in the Viper community" I'll direct him to this post and see if he knows what the deal is. Thanks Don

My experience with the Snake Oyl pipe is that yes, the depth of the collar is shallow compared to the stock pipe, however I tightened things up and was leak free. I had no problems with any other bracketry and the install did take 30 minutes or so.

I removed and sold them primarily because I didn't like the look of the extra long tips and the interior droning. They are very well built though and the exterior sound was nicely enhanced.

Don, I am not sure what your mean by a "no-go", but when I did the Snake-Oyls on my 2000 GTS, it was a pretty simple job. It took some time get the original pipes loose, but everything bolted right up.

Don...it seems to me that my rear pipes went all the way to the no-go on one side, and was just a hair, (and I mean a hair)short of the other. Everything lined up okay, the fit was fine.
