The VOI X Video had a shot of JOE (VWIPER) falling to his hands and knees as he got off that Bus ride. Yah, although we had a good bus ride we still had to wait an hour for YOUR group to get through the Conner Plant Tour because of your hour long delay.

As to where the VOI XI is ... not Texas or Vegas again. Somewhere with Mountains, rivers, valleys and highways that are better than laguna and willow Creek. I like my restaurants in the pits (side of then highway) with chairs. Toilets that aren't made of plastic (remember that old vette joke?). A couple thousand miles is Great in a Viper unless it's Back East of throughout the middle/praries. I like driving my viper down the highway, but straight 4 lane highways are for kids and Honda Fits, give me a Mountain Highway!

And that bus driver was supposed to know where he was going.....
It was the bus ride from Hell!
PBR

Chrysler and the VCA did a great job at VOI 10, but the bus company they picked that were supposed to do dry runs and know the routes were something else! It's a good thing someone had an Iphone with GPS, or we wouldn't have made it. ;) Not to mention the bus drivers had GPS but weren't using it. That ride wasn't the only time our bus got lost. Maybe it was hell with the burned out buildings on every other block, but at least we got to see those houses from both sides when we went back the way we came. After that day, when we boarded the bus for the river boat cruise, I asked the driver if he knew how to get the there and he said yes. Don't you know he had to stop for directions and turn around because he went the wrong way! :nono: Yep, no boring bus rides for our group. :lmao: I hope the bus drivers at Niagra Falls know where their going or we could be going over the falls in a bus instead of a barrel. :rolaugh:

Sorry you had to wait, but just think about what we went through. We weren't sure if we were making it out alive. :rolaugh:

That would be me, if I would have realized we were lost sooner I would have got involved a little earlier:smirk:

I thought the tour of the ghetto was part of the activities:rolaugh:

Oh well, if it wasn't for that bus ride we wouldn't have this story to tell and we may have never had JIMMMY being as famous as he is:D

Okay...
Here is a copy of how many Vipers were in each state in 2007.
Vipers_by_State.jpg

Yes there are more in the East but also please not that there are over 2800 Vipers just in California. Many of the other western states show great numbers as well.

Once again I think you are incorrect in your logic. This would sell out in the West even with low participation form the East.
That being said I still don't believe that even if it was all the way on the West coast that the ********* members from the East wouldn't make it out.

One thing that will likely be different for VOI 11 is that it will be a VCA event. While prior VOI's were opened up to ALL Viper owners, it is quite possible that the next one will be a VCA ONLY event - i.e. membership has its privileges and would be scaled accordingly. I am sure there is data on how many VOI attendees were also VCA members - I suspect it would be a very high percentage.

So - the overall numbers of Vipers may be meaningless if those folks will not be participants.

It needs to be within driving distance. However - "driving distance" varies by person. We attended our first VOI in 1998 - Vegas - and drive from Raleigh, NC. It was an awesome experience and I would do it again (assuming my freaking orange ACR gets built).

Driving for 4 days, VOI for 4, Viper Days for an extra day, then we flew back.

There's not too often that you can really "unplug" these days, and you can on a cross country trip. Once you are packed and driving, that's all you can do for the next few days - no working on the car, no being in the office, no trying to get "one more thing done" around the house. Poking along in 6th gear at 115 MPH though Oklahoma, smacking a tumbleweed, the number of smiles per mile and impromptu photo ops are all things you can't experience on a plane. It's liberating to drive to VOI - wherever it is - and I highly recommend it.

Good points. But imagine driving through the mountains as well. Lakes, rivers, etc. Another photo opp around each corner.

West is the best for that. If the diehards insist on California/Nevada then what about Lake Tahoe? I ahven't been there yet and there's probably some good cruisin' roads there?

sorry Ted but there isn't much around Tahoe and there are no tracks or drag strips that I know of. Vegas is the best location for the most driving options. Forget the drive to the VOI what about the driving at VOI? If you want a scenic drive, go on a scenic drive, you don't need a VOI for that.

Reno-Fernley has a 4 mile road course, skid pad, clay oval and a 1/4 mile drag strip, as well as a shooting range on site! :omg:

Hot August Nights anyone? :2tu:

What? You mean I can't enjoy travelling with other members and scenery along the way? If I'm gonna drive thousands of miles I'd prefer to enjoy it thank you. I enjoyed the VOI X because I travelled days with other VCA members and during the week long drive back home we hit some Tourism sites Pioneer Car Museum, Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt. Rushmore, Devil's Tower and Well's Drugs to name a few. The 6,300+miles would not have been worth the trip for JUST VOI X. My wife and I were the only Western Cda VCA members that drove. Another 14 couple did fly there.

Plus, I can now say I've driven my Vipers across the continent 4 times. Pacific Northwest has the best scenery and most challenging roads. I think Michigan has the most traffic cops and worst traffic so far.

Since Phoenix isn't getting any love, I'll state some facts (opinions ;)) to think about:

Road Courses at Bondurant/Firebird, and PIR.

Dragstips at Speedworld and Firebird.

Mountain drives within a half hour.

65 mph speed limits throughout most of the city. 75 mph on rural Interstates.

Plenty of golf courses for everyone.

All you guys that want to go to Vegas can be there in less than 6 hours. There are local casinos as well.

Plenty of hotel and convention space. Since it looks like the Coyotes (NHL team) will be leaving, the Glendale Arena will need to fill some dates on their calendar. I'm sure they would love to host VOI XI.

Phoenix averages 211 days of sunshine per year. An additional 85 days per year are only partly cloudy, leaving an average of 69 days of cloudy or rainy days.

Do it in spring and all you cold state owners can get a respite from the snow and take in some Spring Training baseball games.

Do it in summer and no one will show up.

Do it in October and give all the cold state owners one last chance to remember nice weather before winter hits.

The National VP lives here so we should get some extra points for that. :2tu:

Phoenix, Phoenix, Phoenix!!! Learn more here:

Official Site of the City of Phoenix

Phoenix Arizona CVB Official Travel Resource ~ Hotels ~ Restaurants ~ Golf in the Greater Phoenix Area

If not Phoenix, then I say Texas (not El Paso).

I think we should do this like the Olympics and have every region that wants to host VOI submit a plan with reasons why their region/city of choice should be chosen. Then the Members and National Officers can pick from the best proposals.

I do like Pheonix. Great roads. Great tracks. Great weather.

Ah what the heck, I am for a VOI anywhere as long as there is a VOI!:headbang:

Even if it means going to The Netherlands and race your Viper at Circuitpark Zandvoort :D?

Nope, Vipers don't drive well on water. Too low so the splashing is the problem. And, they don't float. Maybe they'd lend us the Viper boat they had at VOI X?

Seriously, the puddle is a major hurdle to getting anywhere near the Netherlands. Otherwise ... Roads I've seen look like fun.

Sweetride - I've run at Firebird and been to Phoneix, quartzite and Flagstaff and concur that it's OK as a choice.
