I have been thinking about what is involved to work on car and hood removal appears to be commonplace.

However, this is something I need to do solo.

I have also thought about designing kinematic links that would put the hood in a "Stage II" work position without removing it.

Any comments?

The way I figure it, you have three options:

1) rig up a block and tackle using soft line and lift it off yourself

2) call a friend over to share a brew and help with the hood (my favorite)

3) raise the hood all the way and work around it (my usual approach)

Along the lines of block and tackle, you know those pulley rigs for hardtops? That should work great. I've seen some advertised on one of the Viper links here, I believe.
