Speed and times

My 00 GTS factory owners manual listed top speed of 180 mph, 12.2 for the quarter, 4.2 for 0-60. My 96 GTS manual says top speed of 170 mph, 12.7 for the quarter, 4.7 for 0-60.

From the seat of my pants, the 96 fells stronger, but what gives? I have an old Motor Trend that has a B/W on the cover with other cars and it hit 193 mph.

the owners manual that came with my 2001 viper gts-acr states that the top speed of the car is 180 mph. back when my car was bone stock i took it out and tested it to see if this was the case and sure enough both my speedo and GPS indicated a max speed of 180 mph. i stayed in it but there was just nothing left to be had. since i have modded the car i have now hit 198 mph on GPS. i got a few trix left up my sleeve to get me to 200 mph this winter. as far as the top speed of your car is concerned i recommend you get a GPS and test it for yourself. i don't believe everything i read in a magazine or even a owners manual
