Splitfire plugs $0.99

As soon as I can I'm going to change the plugs in my GTS. Just got it and that's something I do with cars I just get, that in belts and oil. Autozone on line has the splitfire plugs for $0.99 a piece. I remember when they were almost $10 each. I always wanted to try them. I figured for $10 I'd give it a try. Got some for my 97 Sable ****** also. Anyone know why there so cheap now. I did a search and couldn't find any problems they caused just people saying they weren't worth the money when they were expensive.

The market has spoken. They are the same or worse than the stock plugs. Why bother, these cars love the lawn mower plugs?

Why are they cheap?No proven benefits at all.Had to retract all their bogus claims and advertising.No performance improvements.Not HP.Not torque.Not mileage.Can't even claim longer life.Just get the champs the engine was designed to use. GTS Bruce

Had them in my 94, had problems with the engine running well. Dave at Roanoke asked me if I replaced the plugs with these. When I said yes, he told me to pull them out and go stock. That fixed the problem. The champs are the way to go.

Splitfire, or anything Bosch for that matter, should be avoided like the plague.
Return them and get either Champion or NGK coppers.

I believe the the slpit design was patented in the late 1980's or early 1990's and the product was marketed well. The patent was filed by an engineering company and the rights to it were bought by a marketing company (that didn't even manufacture them)

Tried 'em on a Chev BB and they seemed to work OK under no load - seemed in some ways smoother and crisper at low throttle levels but sucked at WOT.

Most people seeking HP avoided them and the folks who watch too much TV were their customer base. patent expiration probably happened a few years ago, and that dropped the price to ordinary levels. Suitable for a very ordinary plug.

I knew the one-time Financial Dir of the Marketing company whose brand was Splitfire and he claimed that it was more hype than science.

If there good enough for your sable, then they must be good enough for your viper! Spend an extra 10 bucks and get the Champions and save yourself the hassle of changing the plugs twice.

All right guys you talked me in to it. I'm bringing them back to autozone and see if they'll take them in on trade for some Champs. I think I will try them in my ****** for the hell of it. It's just a cruiser, not much get up and go. That's not what I got it for. I have to commute 120 miles a day to work. It gets 27 mpg and I don't care how many miles are on it.

Good move. I swear I can remember readings these had a problem with the tips coming off while in the engine and doing piston damage.
