I have owned my 05 GenIII for several months now and have put over 4K miles on it. I have taken it to Viper Days and drive it whenever I can. I mention that because I don't want you to think I don't drive the car and that what Im noticing is something from when me just starting it up in the garage to listen too :). Not bashing the garage qeen cars. OK so to my observation and question. Whenever I park the car in the garage I pop the hood to let the engine cool faster and to look around and check for any problems. I have noticed nearly everytime that the Factory Air box is always very hot. If you put your hand inside the box and feel the bottom under your filters you will notice (especially if the fans been on) that it get realy hot! I may not be the brightest tool in the shed but from what I know having our engines gulping warm air isn't beneficial. I am wondering if anyone has looked at insulating the bottom of the air box (or the whole thing) to keep the incoming air at outside temps before making it into the throttle body?

off topic, but can you tell me what your results, in terms of performance, and overall tuning, have been with VEC3? marked difference?

Vec III in my opinion is awsome. I went to the Dyno after putting the VecIII in. I got an additional 20RWHP and 30RWTQ after we tuned the carand that was on the top end. I am getting a little more than that between 3K and 3800RPM. You need to have a dyno around IMO to use the VecIII appropriatly. PM me if you want more info and I can give you my number if you want to talk more about it.

You might have something there. My srt10 feels like it loses 50hp when the weather gets warmer. Its a well known fact that cooler air is denser and therefore you can pack more of it into the engine thereby making more hp.
On my gen2 I have insulated the tubes with one inch thick foam insulation to isolate the engine heat from the air flow through the tubes.

We have done a lot of testing with these air boxes and have come up with some solutions which can be seen on our web site below.
