Had the car one week so far and have only driven it a few miles. Today I tried to start it and the engine turned once then nothing, with clutch 90% depressed and in first. When I shifted into neutral it started without issues. Drove it a couple hundred miles today, turned the engine off multiple times and it restarted every time without issue.
Problem or just the starting system being finicky, i.e. may have not been solidly in gear?

Being 'solidly in gear' has no bearing on starting. Having the clutch depressed all the way does.

How old is the battery? Weak battery causes all kinds of funkiness.

Possible bad clutch switch. I bought a '95 with a bad switch...(guy said it wouldn't start, great deal for me!).

Check it out......

-Cheers!
