I'm looking for a quiet brake pad that performs at least near stock quality. I bought some pads a while back that were perfectly quiet, but I nearly killed myself trying to stop my 94 RT-10. Now I'm using some type of race pad (sorry for lack of brand names) that stop great, but I don't race, and I'm squeaking around town with black rims. Can someone point me in the right direction with some good recommendations? Thanks

I put the Poterfield R4S pads on my fronts and really like them. Minimal to no squeel, markedly reduced brake dust and they work great. I just got a pair for the rears. The front pads are very easy to change, easier than any other car I have owned. Looks like the backs should be not much harder. I got mine from Rich at http://www.HighPerformanceHouse.com/

I have also heard great things about the porterfield pads. Certainly cant go wrong with them. Another new pad out for the viper is from www.greatbrakes.com They carry the EBC pad from the UK which has been around for quite awhile, just new to vipers. They claim no squeal and next to zero dust. Plus only cost $150 for BOTH axles. WingKing can answer any questions about them. Just another option....

IM GOING TO LET A SECRET OUT HERE!!!!!

Use NAPA Dust Free Pads! They cost about 50 bucks for the fronts and 55 for the rear. They stop very well(im not a road racer, so i can't speak from that aspect, but at the drags i stop very, very quickly) and they leave NO dust on my wheels!

There you go. Your ticket to not having to clean those wheels daily ever again.

It's good to see a message thread like this going on the board. Since there have already been some positive comments about the EBC pads, I only want to urge the following: DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON PADS BEFORE YOU BUY! Examine and compare the respective manufacturer's ratings and specifications for their product, including operational heat ranges and stabilty, friction coefficients, and friction versus temperature charts, if they are "upfront" enough to offer them to you. Of course, this is already on top of whatever claims they may make for lack of dust or noise. I recommend against jumping into ANY modification or upgrade to your Viper based solely on the immortal words, "hey buddy, have I got a sweet deal for you"! As for brakes, purchase a pad who's specifications suits YOUR desired price range and particular needs, and/or YOUR driving style. Opinions are like noses..... everyone's got one. Heck, there are still people on this board who don't use Zaino, because THEY still like what they've been using. That's fine. That's why we have chocolate, vanilla and strawberry! Hey....wait.... maybe there's a new product idea here! Strawberry flavored brake pads???

I'm quite pleased with the Porterfield R4S pads both for the street and road racing. They seem to improve braking performance, make a lot less dust (major issue if you have BBS wheels), and hardly ever squeek.

On a road course the R4S pads will wear rather quickly. I wore out a set in one day at Pocono.

Good Luck .....

I've been using the EBC green stuff pads for several years now, like them, and like their price. My beloved eats front pads as if they were just a snack; I'm pleased if I get 2K miles out of the fronts! I found stock pads were heating up so much that they began breaking up! Good Olde-English roads, loads of twisty bits.
