Tear in the carpet on the passenger side?

I noticed some heat shielding reflecting through the carpet, and it looks like the carpet is torn on the seam at the bottom of the floor board:

Is this just how it is, or is mine torn? I figure I can pull back the carpet and just put a black patch on the back of it and no one would ever notice.

Not a tear. That is a separation and all have it.

I thought the same thing when I bought my viper and was freaking out the first time I vacummed it.

I'm a little puzzled as to why they didn't just round out the carpet at that edge instead of leaving a gap. Odd.

I noticed it also recently. I guess I have to live with it.

I would need to go out and look but I believe it is open all the way up. I had the complete interior out to put in the sound deadening and heat insulation. I used the Black hushmat so now it does not show.
