My Temp Guage pegs out when I start my 98 Viper and stays there. How hard is

it to replace the sending unit? Or should I take it to a dealer? Not

overheating from what I can tell.

Got the same problem (bad sending unit) with mine only it won't register at all. Just quit this weekend. Got to give Chuck a call and get one on order. I'm sure someone will chime in who has changed one before but it looks like a real nightmare from what I can see. It's located at the rear of the engine under the cowl, not much room to get the hands and tools to in.

Remove the cowl - 4 little screws & your wiper arms is all it takes. Set cowl on winshield. Now you have plenty of room.

I had this same problem a while back. Here's the post. post

You do not have to remove the crowl. The temp sending unit is on the front of the motor. Very easy to replace, took me about 15 minutes.

Are They located in different locations, depending on the

Year? I have a 98 R/T 10. I was told its located in the

front of the engine on the drivers side. Also is there

a special precedure replacing unit? And do I need a thread

sealer or anti sezie compond?

They are is the same location for a GTS and RT/10 (they have the same motor :bonker: ). It is on the front of the engine on the drivers side. Just unscrew the old one and replace with new one. The one I got from the dealer already had sealer on the threads.
