Ive had my viper for 1 month now. So i consider myself still getting to know my ride. Is the stock security system pretty good on our GTSs against theft? WHen I first got the car. I was shocked that the lever to pop open the hood was on the outside.

I would like to drive my GTS out of town, like in the city. And be able to park it in a parking garage without any worries. Thanks again for any of your inputs...

I think our security system is pretty good for being stock. I don't like the fact that someone can open our hood if they know anything about Vipers(thankfully not many people know how top open the hood without causing a sceen). Now that is where having a custom alarm comes in handy problem solved.

Of course the factory alarm has a pin switch on the hood and rear glass. So, if they pop the hood the alarm will go off. Try it. It works well.

Pretty good system since if the alarm goes off the car does not start but it is hard to trip the alarm unless you open the door or hood. I purchased a nice VIPER alarm system but after buying it, I see that I really do not use it. It had the auto cut off, remote monitor, etc but just do not use it. Gonna give it to my brother now for this new ride.

I can tell you how good the viper alarm system is hahahaa

I just got my GTS a month ago, went to get gas with a friend (the fuel kind), anyway, alarm system activated and the viper would NOT start for anything-fuel shuts off!

After about 3 hrs and staring at customers coming and going, we finally had the bright idea to disconnect the cables and it reset

all you had to do was go into your glovebox inbetween the 2 seats and insert your ignition key into the alarm reset switch.

Theft/Security of the Viper was just compromised by this post telling anyone how to open the hood. It is not just Viper owners on this board.

Well let me tell everyone how to clone the remote frequencies with nothing but a piece of cardboard and a Captain Crunch whistle... :D

Had a great installer tell me that you can attach additional sensors to the one in your hood. As far as the alarm is concerned, the hood is opened, but the end result (alarm blaring) is the same. Good way of getting a proximity or glass break sensor in your Viper. My only complaint is the remote's range... not too great, and prone to interference. Anyone know of a way to extend the remote's range?

If you're in the Atlanta Area, look him up. His name is Matt Turner (no relation to Ted). I had him flown here to California to work on an Infiniti M45... can't be any more positive on the guy. His current specialty is custom iPod integration if anyone is interested.
