IMHO, leave the stock tranny alone. Those of us who have track-dedicated road racing Vipers thrash the holy heck out of the tranny and I can tell you they hold up amazingly well. You should never need anything more for the street. Dollars are wisely spent changing the tranny fluid on a regular basis, depending on work load. We change our tranny fluid once every three to five track weekends.

Short shifters are very popular, however, I found it just as easy to miss shifts in a friend's Viper that had it than without one at all.

For the record, I finally replaced my tranny with 20,000 miles on the car, of which at least 15,000 are track miles! It still worked just fine, but it was burping up alot of fluid.
