Value advice

A friend has received a Viper as part of an estate donation to a charity she is affiliated with.
The car is a 2006 Viper, red w/ silver stripes. It is supposedly in mint condition with 5,200 miles. They thought Blue Book is $64,000 which I thought seemed very inflated.
Any thoughts?

They'll need to get a true written appraisal, but we all know that the KBB value you quoted is likely $10k to high. Call Jon at Partsrack, he knows how to deal with these valuation issues like nobody else.

Look at the biggest three dealerships that handle and sell/price Vipers all the time.
Call and get three quotes from them.

The concern with constantly telling folks how low the price should be is we are collectively lowering the value of our own vehicles. I really have been continually confused as to why we as a group of owners, feel we always have to go to the lower end of what we feel our marque is worth. The reality is the price can be very, very different depending on the true condition of the car, the color, the options, etc.

We recently had a vehicle in here that the customer described as perfect. He repeatedly told us what a great deal he got and he was influenced by prices quoted by owners on this board in making his decision. The perfect car he brought in needed close to 5K worth of repairs. The price he paid was fair for the actual condition, but the price for one without these necessary issues should have been 4-5K higher.

The illustration is used in that we are quoting prices to someone again, with very little real information, and described as perfect is not really enough proper information to make an assessment.

Just my humble opinion and we will be more than happy to give her a valuation based on specific data.

Kelly Blue Book, Edmund's, NADA, etc. are "guides" used to estimate the value. Actual values are driven by the current market which is based on the current economic condition and supply/demand. The current economy unfortunately has driven down the value. To get a more accurate indication of a Viper's maket value (the true buying or selling price), you'll need to check places like Autotrader, Ebay Motors, Cars.com etc. for a better ballpark number. The $1 or $2k "tweaks" will come from the condition and the mileage.

You failed to mention if it was a coupe or a convertible, that makes a difference as the coupe is higher in value.

Exactly ,50 is going to be tough because NICE Gen 4s used can be bought low 60s.
