I was delighted to receive my new 94 RT/10 Viper on Thursday after a long wait, I brought it on ebay in Dec. The car was shipped from Seattle to New Zealand with DHL packing the viper
DHL made a very good job of securing the car. with timbers well nailed to the container floor and straps tying it to the sides
I went to the viper for a good look tonight, (I have been extremely busy and my son was admitted to hospital in the weekend so had not had a chance to do this before,) I noticed that there is considerable water on the drivers side floor and drivers seat. I noticed a musty smell in the container and some mould on the carpets when the car arrived, but presumed this was normal. However there is a lot of water on the carpet and under the seat foam while the other side is completely dry leading me to think someone deliberately placed the water there!!! There is some rust on the leather at the sides and on some of the bolts that I could see in the half dark tonight.
Also the fuel filler door was very hard to open when the car arrived, I noticed that the hinge does not seen to be working properly, I presume that the cap should be easy to open, is there any trick to this as there is only a little bit of room and it is rather difficult to get my fingers down and under it to open?
I also noticed brown spots on one side curtain, I am not sure if this is normal aging or was caused by the dampness in the container?.
The car has a cover and plastic over the top of it, this unfortunately would have kept the dampness around the car. The day it arrived I notice the head lights fogged up in the warmth of the sun.
If this was deliberately done I hate what else may have been done.
The car was suposed to be insured so will have to see what happens.
It was great to drive for 12 miles home as I was able to borrow a dealers plate and use it on the road.
My next task is to have a good assesment of what will be involved
to convert it to Right hand drive.
