wow..were to begin

I wouldnt trade my 510 HP 2003 Viper for a Z06 simply because one is a Viper and one is a vette..But it seems as if your not grasping that so I will break it down further..

cheapest 2008 viper is the 84K convertable...most expensive is 112K ACR
cheapest 2009 Z06 is 74K base..Most expensive with all options is 85K

from 2003-2006 6,000 SRT10's made..from 2008-2010 4,000 made (last year)
from 2006-2010 35,000 Z06's made..And they are still makeing them

2008 Viper routinely hits 0-60 in 3.5 seconds
2009 Z06 routinely hits 0-60 in 3.7 seconds

2008 viper routinely hits 11.5 at 128 mph in the 1/4 mile
2009 Z06 routinely hits 11.7 mph at 125 in the 1/4 mile

2008 viper goes from 0-150 mph in 16.4 seconds
2009 Z06 goes from 0-150 mph in 17.5 seconds

-The 2008 viper was 1-2 seconds faster per lap than the Z06 in the magazine testing..

-2008 Viper DNA is holding it's own on the Ring and streets of willow

a year from now when they are no longer makeing vipers a 2008 viper will still be worth 60K plus..A year from now a 2009 Z06 will be wroth 50k

I have a 2003 SRT10 convertable and my buddy has a 2007 Z06..they are both worth 35-42K respectively..

DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I'm as surprised as you guys, but some people like slower cars like the vettes. Hey some guys even keep their Vipers stock ... imagine that only 600bhp when they could easily have 650- 900bhp with a FI kit on an older Viper.

I was told that "power isn't everything". I don't understand why anyone would say that.

The only reason I can think of that you would consider this is if you want a daily driver in upstate NY. A coupe with nannies would probably be better in your region if you're driving it everyday. If it was me I would just get a cheap ****** and keep the Viper. If that's not the case then why give up a hand built v10 exotic open air limited production supercar with 600hp for a car that looks so common and is not nearly as much fun to drive.

Lol i wouldnt say the the Z is slower and believe me it doesnt give anything up to the viper performance wise. You can make anything fast: old viper, new viper, vette etc... It just depends on what your going for....

You should definitely do it!!!!

On a serious note, you obviously don't own a viper since you are asking this question and because you never replied to anyone this was obviously not a serious post.

Kind of a lame duck question tho. Guy only has 400 mile on his viper. I mean wouldnt you drive the car a bit more to see if you liked it? Wouldnt you drive the z06 to see if you liked it? Seems kind of pointless to me.

AFL in NJ;... to me it seems like you're trading something rare for something rather common. (like a diamond for an emerald) Regards said:
I hate to tell you but emeralds are the RAREST jemstones in the world..I know because its my birthstone (May).....

Maybe the Viper is too much car for him so I say if he wants to swap straight up do it.
I would have a hard time making the call if someone wanted to swap a 2010 ZR1 for my ACR..:omg:

you wouldnt say stock for stock the Z06 is slower???

HMMM..550 rwhp viper verses 450 rwhp z06..
dude even my 2003 with a measily 470 rwhp from intake/roller rockers/no cats was able to beet a stock Z06 twice in a row in front of 50 people..

Heres a stock 2008 Viper against a mildly modded Z06...tell me honestly now that you have seen the truth do you consider this a fair trade?

Now that what 550 rwhp will do to a mild bolt on 460 rwhp Z06..

heres a stock Z06 verses the "old" 510 HP srt10 with a few mods for 478 rwhp....

YouTube - Greg Viper SRT10 vs C6 Z06 40-145mph race

The point im trying to make is that a C6Z06 is quite a bit slower than a 2008 viper..So you would stand to gain nothing and lose everything in this deal..

Wow sorry twister I dont look at youtube videos to find out which cars are faster. Check the 1/4 mile times on both those cars and you will find they are VERY comparable to one another. Look even further and see what your average driver clicks out in these cars. The viper is about 300 pounds heavier and has a 3:07 rear gear as the vette has 3:42. The vette gives up 100hp but knows what to do with the 505hp it has.

Again there are 35,000 Z06's in the world..There are 4,000 08-10 vipers in the world..

One guy has went 128 mph in the 1/4 mile in a 100% stock Z06 down to the oem tires. A few guys have went 127 mph.

The Viper on the other hand..Even though it's only been out for two years and even though their are hardly any of them out in the world it has still been ran to 127-129 mph with average drivers on a regular basis and a few have touched 130 mph and one guy even 131 mph..

The 2008 viper dust off a C6Z06 plain and simple

Lol your cute Twister...You love vipers and I understand that. Im a realist. Ive owned a c6 z06 and now my GenIII and have seen several gen4's run at the track ive seen anywhere from 124 to 128. Ive ran a gen4 in my z and it was dead even. You wouldnt care tho cause your little heart is set on just vipers.

They are both fast cars...it is what it is.

There are a lot of vette to Viper owners here and a half dozen vette lovers. Go back and read Leslie's post. Maybe Constanzo will chime in since he went from a 600rwhp vette to a stock Gen 2 or 3 and loves his Viper a LOT more, like Leslie.

Vette isn't faster although the ZR1 might be - if it had a driver that could handle the car without traction control (brakes on). The Z06 got spanked by the Gen 3 Vipers and the Gen 4s are what caused the PS2 s to be invented. The ZR1 got a set of PS2s but the Z05s still have the ancient Goodyear skinny runcraps.

Yah, I'm love Vipers too. The Gen 3s came equal to Gen 2 speeds because of the runcraps and installing the PS2s means that the Gen 2s are faster than Gen 2 Vipers (stock). If you own a Z06 it might take awhile to get some 325 PS2s, course they'd go faster with dr, like a viper.

Easy answer. Get the Vette. People that own Vipers know exactly what they want, or should anyway. A Viper is not a car to be wishywashy about.

Vettes are good cars. Buy one. You'll love it.

Z06 got spanked by Gen 2/3 Vipers? On what planet? Most Viper owners couldn't even beat a C6Z with a Gen IV...and what's a Z05?

Ive beat the Z06 with only 3 mods to my 2003 srt10..intake/roller rockers/no cats..So if I can do it (just barely) with 475 rwhp then I sure hope all these guys trapping 126-131 mph in their stock 550 rwhp 2008 Vipers can...

Im raceing a cammed c6Z06 soon in my just bolt on Viper...Wait till you see the outcome..

I wouldn't even consider a ZR1! I mean seriously. The ZR1 is kinda cool, but it's a 'vette. I am stunned by this post o_O

exactly..

The zr1 is a 120K VETTE..It blows my mind that people are willing to spend 80K on a Z06 or 120K on a ZR1 when they look exactly like a 55K Z51..

I was a vette fanatic..I had a 2004 back in 2004 and thought it was amazing....Then I bought my first Viper and wow what a differance. You can talk about lap speeds and 1/4 mile times and all that..But at the end of the day a 1992 rt10 Viper thats worth 25K will get more attention in a parking lot by random people than a brand new ZR1..

the vette guys just dont get this..the viper is a total differant ownership experiance. I honestly cant imagine getting any more attention in a F430 than you do in a Viper. They are both rock star status vehicles. A ZR1 or Z06 is far from this..The average Joe will think your 120K ZR1 is just like the 2005 coupe his aunt has...

Again..I was a die hard vette supporter..I went to the strip 4-6 times per month and did a few track days as well as made fast list ect 6 years ago and I thought a C5Z06 was the be all end all...I even modified my vette with Z06 rims and Z06 heads and camshaft..

But when I got my first viper and saw what it reeally felt like to own somthing special..Well now I feel the way about vettes that I felt about mustangs when I had a vette..

God (with some help from the SRT engineers) created Vipers so that Vette owners would have heros to look up to. LOL

A guy I raced (he lost by about 6 car lengths between 50 and 120) said that he'd NEVER drivne the car without the TC on. After shifting into 3rd and fishtailing away from him for a couple hundred feet HE wouldn't buy a Viper -ever. He did like his '04 430bhp Z06. It was sepcial because it had some cf he said

If you trade a Viper for a Vette, please list what other cars you have, so members here can also make you stupid offers that you'll bite on. I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse I'd be willing to trade if you have a Lambo Gallardo.
