I'm going to buy a new torque wrench tonight that will be used almost exclusively for my Viper. What wrench will be more useful? They are all the same price, so cost is no issue

a. 20-200 in. lbs. (not sure if that should say ft. lbs., but the description says in. lbs.)
b. 0 to 80 ft. lbs.
c. 10 to 150 ft. lbs.

TIA!

Chad I use a 0 to 180 inch pounds on my Miata....you don't want one in inch pounds on a Viper I would imagine. Torque wrenches that have a big range like 20-200 foot pounds in my opinion seem to be more inacurate than a lesser range like the 0 to 80 foot pounds one so I would get the 0 to 80 foot pounds.

All 3 should be in any good mechanics tool box.
Also, a 100 - 250 ft.lbs would be my suggestion.
And, we never use a torque wrench within 20% of either limit.

I'm thinking I'm going to buy the 10-150 wrench. Using the 20% rule, that means its useful from 38-122 ft. lbs. That should be good enough for the vast majority of Viper repairs that I'd be doing myself

You will need something with a lower usable scale for diff, tranny, oil pan plug, brake bleeders, oil pan bolts, etc.

oil pan bolts, and (most importantly) intake manifold bolts will require a 3/8" drive that is on the low end (11 ft/lb? or is it 11nm?) anyway, you'll want that for the small stuff. a 1/2" drive for something like heads and other higher tq bolts. you can't have just one!

I went for the inch pounds. Anytime I am dealing with small trq numbers, such as intake. I want to be accurate. I am more afraid of damaging alum parts than steel. Except for suspension parts, most parts are under 90ft lbs..
