I will be getting my 2001 in less than two weeks. I keep coming with question I should ask.

1. Thinking about putting lojack in any Pros/cons?

2. Texaco, Amaco, or Sunoco94 gasoline?

3. anything should order beforehand like, Chin Guard,Floor Mats etc...

4. anything else you could tell me to get me going in the right direction.(already know about the breakin procedure)

Thanks for any help.

Lo Jack is not a bad idea, it does nothing for your insurance though. You should get floor mats. Doesn't matter where you get your gas as long as its 92 octane, unless of course, there is a station in your neighborhood notorious for having water in the gas.

Oh yeah, get K&N air filters or equivalent and smooth tubes.

The VERY first thing you should do is bring it to my house and let me check it out for a few weeks - only then can I make learned suggestions.

Lojack - up to you
Gas - Amoco when available
Beforehand purchases - floormats, short shift knob from MGW, Zaino Polish and a good towel (ask Sal Zaino for details)

...and most important, try to visit a performance driving school to "adjust the nut behind the wheel"

Best of Luck! and welcome to The Viper Nation!

Here are a few ideas I have taken from the past couple of years of watching this message board:
1. Use any 92 or higher octane gas
2. Break it in gently as recommended
3. Do NOT let the dealer wash it at the
dealership before delivery! Tell them.
4. Use Mobil 1 and their filter and have
the first oil change done in about 300
miles. Yes, 300. Not 3,000.
5. Buy Sal Zaino's products and use them.
You will be happy! :)
6. Don't order things besides maybe mats
until you've had the car for a while.
7. WATCH how close you come to curbs. The
rims can easily be scratched by curbs
and they are pricey.
8. And, finally, and most importantly, do
not worry about the temp. gauge needle
going over to the right side! Yes, they
run "warm"....don't worry...be happy.

I would definitely get the chin guard before you drive it. And put some felt pads underneath it at the end of the three prongs where it contacts the facia.

sleepersn95,

What are the details of the Viper you are getting? Color, Model,
etc.
I have put many MGW Ltd. accesories on mine, a Borla Cat Back exhaust system, NorCal Viper Blue/Green mats, a Red Halotron fire extinguisher (From Roe Racing-nice touch),and a Mopar Viper cover
is a good idea also. I only use 92 Octane and I will probably do
Headers (Belanger)and 3:54 gears. The only thing I have listed that I wouldn't do myself would be the Headers and Gears.
Good luck,
Steve

Oh ya one more thing.

Lo Jack, Uh No!
No insurance savings and if someone takes my Viper I don't want
it back. Especially here in San Diego!

Steve

Sleepersn95,

An RT or GTS / Stripes / no stripes ? Black or Tan interior?

The Sapphire is a great color, but probably the hardest color I have had as far as keeping it clean. It's also very hard to get a good picture that shows the color.

Which Dealer is she coming from?

Regards,
Steve
