96 GTS bone stock with 81K miles

engine rebuild at 40K

never hit, but some paintwork due to rock chips etc. int. is clean, no tears or scuffs.

no curb rash & pilots with less than 500 miles on them

a friend of mine spotted it at a dealer auction & has a chance to make a bid on it tomorrow

just curious, thanks

If it's blue with white stripes and has 40k miles, I would go as high as $38,000. What was the reason for the engine rebuild?

81k ?

the highest mileage 96 gts in the country sold at Manheim Auto Auction was 53k and sold for 33500.00,but was 2 years ago.

I wouln't pay in the 30's. Soon you'll have a 100,000 mile car that not too many people would buy.

I had a chance to buy a 19k mile car a few weeks ago for 38k and passed.

Brandon,
I believe it was a head gasket (which wasn't a common prob for this year)

Twin,
"Soon you'll have a 100,000 mile car that not too many people would buy." - thats the part that would worry me most.
My friend was thinking 31K. Its not at Manheim, its a small auction in Windsor, CT.

There is a 96 GTS in the classifieds with 41k miles for 41k. Talk him down to a reasonable 39k,sell the aftermarket wheels and seats for 3-4k(it comes with originals also)and you own a car with half the miles for around 35k. You can even sell the exhaust parts if you don't need them.

if you look at it that way 35K compared to 31K is not much more for literally half the miles.

i dont know all the details on the auction. i can find out more if you're interested.

i figured for any year GTS, this year/color should at least hold the most value

Not even close. I have one GTS on my logs from California thats pushing more like 150,000 miles (joe117 was very disappointed that his RT only has 106k in comparison.) Hell I think 2viperChuck (here on the boards) has 90k on his GTS and he only drives that to *******. I'm already up to 40k on mine and I've only driven it two years.

With the market softing due to the upcoming GenIIICoupe I would doubt you'll see higher than $30k for the next year or so. Once the flash of the new coupe wears off I would expect the prices to climb, though very slightly.
