you mean "trunk", right? Don't know, maybe it just seems that way because there no hydraulic component to hold the truink up.

You mean "trunk"? Add a damper/absorber.

Yes I did mean trunk. Thank you for pointing that out. My bad.

Now as for the question, Andrew you might be right. Anyone else's opinion?

Andrew's right, but I'm sure there is also a structural integrity issue here. As you know, the RT/10 uses the spare tire as part of its' safety absorption design, and I'm sure that's probably the reason why the trunk is as heavy as it is.... another reinforcing element in case of a rear end collision.

I really do not have the answer...BUT, in an issue related to the weight of the trunk lid...place a small, soft plastic or rubber cap (NOT a pencil eraser) on the prop stick as it is easy to have it "get loose" while holding parcels and trunk lid, thus making a heck of a scratch !!

Sorry for the hijack.

Sounds like it might be a safety feature. I thought it was that or added weight. I guess no one will really know. Or maybe it is just heavy since there is no support to hold it up. I think right now that is the reason.

If you think it is heavy....put a spoiler and wing on it, it takes a crowbar to open it.

Just a quick question. Anyone know? Is it for weight for the rear of the car? Never really understood it. Anyone have any ideas?

its for when you put your big fat fugly head in there and your elbow hits the bar holding it up, the lid comes down trying to knock some sence into your thick skull. ROTFLMFAO :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

My guess is, so it stands up to repeated openings and closings, closing on top of something inside the trunk accidently, people sitting on it, and assorted trunk lid abuse, without cracking.

I just got tired of the "Flat Head Syndrome" and ordered the trunk strut kit from Jon B. Hope it's here by the weekend as I'm in the need for some wrenching.

Kind of funny....I do have the Autoform spoiler and that trunk is heavy! Plenty of times I've almost lost a limb. Good thing I'm in the business.
