I went last year and it was a lot of fun. Figured I would pass it on so I'm not the only Viper owner!!!
Hello everyone -
I wanted to take a quick minute to explain our WI / IL Cruise list. This all started when I met Z06 Bob P, via the Z06vette.com forum site. He took me for a ride in his C5 LG Z and then introduced me to the rather large Gurnee car show (HWY 132). This weekly show gathers all kinds of cars, from exotics to American sports cars, sport sedans and muscle cars. The show quality was quite impressive. So, a few of my friends decided to take a quick trip on June 23, 2006 to the show. While along the way, Tony D. passed us (Me, Lee R. (911 twin turbo), and Mark W. (1991 NSX) on the Freeway in his Ford GT and we met shortly after at the car show. After discussing that we should get a bunch of guys together to go on cruises, I started posting a WI / IL get together cruise on a few sites and we organized a cruise that traveled down to the show again on August 9, 2006. The August 9, 2006 cruise was a blast. We all met after work at 6:30 PM at the College park and ride lot. We then followed each other in a line on I94 to the Gurnee Car Show. The most fun was the ride down there, in which we "ran" our cars a little bit
. Pictures of a few of the cars that attended are attached thanks to Cash and Gina M, as well as Chad M. (This year, we plan on taking pictures of all of the cars in attendance). The show was packed, and we met fifteen other guys on the distribution list at the show (we all parked together in the Circuit City parking lot in Gurnee Mills). Then, we all went out to eat and concluded at 11:15 PM, with the guys from WI following each other back in line on I94.
So, that is how this all started. This year, I have been posting messages on various forums to get all different kinds of cars together. As you can see from the list, I think we are making headway. These cruises are a lot of fun and I hope that each of you can join. The distribution list includes individuals who road race, drag race, or take their cars to shows. As an auto enthusiast, I hope that we can gather 100 or more cars to cruise together to a car show or related event. It will take everyone's help to accomplish this, but I know in the end you will find this very fun.
In 2007, the dates that I am looking at are as follows:
- Friday, June 15, 2007 - Cruise to the Gurnee Car Show - Logistics to be sent to everyone via email - PLEASE SAVE THIS DATE.
- August 2007 - Date TBD (Open to suggestions on where to go)
- Fall Cruise 2007 - Date TBD (Open to suggestions on where to go)
Obviously, the weather on the Friday, June 15, 2007 has to be nice, but everyone save that date first. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
