I know there is a link out there, that has a list of known wrecked vipers,by VIN, but I can't find it... could someone point me in the right directions, please.

Offially there is no Wrecked Vin database avalible to the public - other than going through carfax one-by-one.
I was keeping track of these then a lawsuit was threatened by the owner of a so-called "clean title" vehicle. I still try on a personal level, but if I cannot publicly release my finds there really is no point.

This is one of the most frustrating things about doing this. One club has a legel defense fund just so it can fight these sort of things!
I have started gathering images of wrecks and sticking them in the IVR galleries, we may want to have the folks that salvage Vipers let us at least put their VINs in, folks like PartsRack and Don Scharf.
What I've been doing is looking for listings like This One on EBay, print it out and grab the pics and post them in the IVR Wrecks Gallery. I ask for and sometimes get VINS for cars being parted out like This One. If anyones complains there car has never been wrecked, I can fax them a copy of the original listing, and they can call the people that listed it. Guess we'll find out over time if that will work.
I really don't understand this one. That is public information. If you can get the information from carfax then it should be available for all. This kind of s@%$ makes me boil over. Basically a scumbag lawyer scared you with a bunch of bulls#$@, to protect a criminal activity (washing the title).
OK, I know this forum must have some attorneys, what can be done about this!!!
A "Wall Street Mugging" is where you do up to someone and threaten to sue them for say $100,000 for absolutlely no reason. Then you give them the choice of spending $35,000 to fight (and 'probably' win) in court, or settle immediatly for $10,000. Same thing applies here - between the legal fees, the time off from work, and the general headaches associated in dealing with the courts, there is no way I can even risk the chance of being sued.
I'm still collecting and trying data (though not as zealously as before,) and if the day comes when the courts allow you to sue to recover legal fees from fraudulent claims it'll be back open to the public.

even with car fax...can't even trust them....i had car totalled and says CLEAN title, and i had 1-owner clean title car says it was a salvage, and i even had car with 130k miles and on car fax says 230k.....car fax is NOT always right...

I think another issue with cars like Vipers is that a lot of people take them to the race track, and you might "wreck" the car on a track day, tow it home and have it "fixed" by a friend or the local race shop. These types of wrecks are what interest me. Wreck your Viper at the track, I doubt that a police report gets filed, let alone an insurance report. When available, the ZR-1 registry used to track these types of wrecks as well.

A big problem with carfax is not all states send their reports to them. So if your car has been wrecked in a state that doesnt report to them, its not gonna show up on a carfax report. I'm betting there's ALOT of viper owners out there who are driving cars that have been wrecked but dont know about it. The only way to be 100% positive is to be the original owner
