she acted weird and made weird faces during the interview.

Sorry if the Viper's suspension is stiffer than the luxury soft Vette. Sorry if you don't know that 5th gear is overdrive. Sorry if you didn't even know you weren't in fifth gear. Sorry if the only way you placed second in the Grand prix was by taking out two other cars and passing a three car accident on the last lap. :drive:

~ Kev

PS; Wait till a REAL driver rings one of these things out on the famed Nurenburgring.....i can't wait to see how fast an 08' Coupes time will be being that they're already testing to be over a SECOND faster than the C6 Z06's on MUCH smaller/shorter tracks... ;)

Hi... This is Danica. I am using 8 of 200's computer right now. His Viper is much better than the one they gave me to test. I think his Viper would have beat any of the cars they let me drive the other day... and better looking too! Sorry you guys don't like me. I will do my best to win the next race to prove myself.

So, the Viper is not the equal of the Lambo Merci 640LP on a fast track...is that really a surprise? Would you be surprised if an MV Augusta or a Ducati 996 outperformed a Harley? Reality check time! Just my 2c.

What models are you referring to? And what is the bottom line - speed? comfort? ease? fun?

Nevermind. I see you edited.
...in this test cost was not a factor. The big surprise to me is the GT3RS feeling skiddish, but my old Posha had a whaletail and was lowered so it was stable at 175. The GT3RS really is built more for road course performance anyway, not high speed. Of course, the Veyron would have buried them all in this test.

One of the main jobs of a professional race driver is to be able to communicate back to the crew what the car is doing out there on the racetrack.

The crew will then use this information to make changes to the vehicle to improve its performance.

Believe that is really what Danica is doing in this data dump.

Often drivers are not asked to go as fast as the car can go, but to execute a race strategy that is determined by driver, crew and owners.

She was just doing her job of reporting back. We should not take her comments as personal, or complaints about the car, but just comments that could be used to make the car perform better on the track.

(she is a cutie thought).

ummm... The only thing she reported to me was that she didn't know a thing about Vipers. That or motor trend is so ignorant of Vipers that they didn't correct her on an OBVIOUS mistake. The last option is that motor trend KNEW and wanted her to look like an idiot. Anyway you look at it, motor trend looks bad at the end, and Danica STILL hasn't won a darn thing for anyone to care what she thinks.

Nice "spread" though.

Personally, I don't care that much about acceleration over 160MPH, because at least around here there is no sane place to drive that fast in public.

She is used to a high revving, short geared, Gallardo, and similarly setup race cars.

So it makes sense that she wouldn't understand the power delivery of the Viper or Z06.
By the performance numbers it was clear that the Viper performed great, and that it was just her poor perception that tainted the article. One of the reasons why I added 3.55 gears to my Viper was because with the stock 3.07 gears combined with BOTH 5th and 6th gears being overdrive gears means that it can feel sluggish if you were say in 6th at 120MPH and floored it. :(

The Lamborghini has both a very high revving engine, and short, tightly spaced gears. Being a $325,000+ car it makes the trade off of some level of fuel economy for all-out acceleration. Which is why it averages between 9 and 12MPG.

Whereas the Viper is actually getting better gas mileage than before while adding nearly 100HP!

I was surprised to see that the Viper out accelerated the LP640 to 60 considering the Lambo's AWD advantage from a standing start. But it kept that lead being nearly a half second quicker to 100MPH, quicker and faster through the 1/4 mile and even quicker to 140MPH than the Lamborghini LP640.

To me it's simply remarkable that the $84K Viper is quicker all the way up to 140MPH than a $325,000 Lamborghini!!! And this isn't even comparing the lighter Viper convertible against the $380,000 Lamborghini LP640 roadster. ;)

It's not surprising that you get the wrong conclusions when you ask the wrong questions. ...Or the wrong people.
Looked at from another perspective, this is a great success story for the new Viper. :D

Everyone is quick to say she is full of b.s., but I can't really fault her much.

First off, when she was complaining about acceleration, she was in 5th gear, not 6th. She acknowledged that 6th gear is a cruising overdrive gear.

There is a big gap between 4th and 5th gear. When you are trying to accelerate out of the bottom of 5th gear, the car does not pull like it should. It pulls strong through 4th, then you shift to 5th and bog until you build enough revs. It's a problem with the gearing. I changed out 5th and 6th gears on my tranny for this very reason.

As for losing traction over bumps, certainly the stock 2003-2006 suspension had this issue. Start going over a bumpy road at speeds over 120, and the car gets very loose.
I assumed that they fixed this on the 2008. Maybe they didn't.

I think she was playing it safe with these cars. Not knowing how they’ll act at high speed and not willing to push the limit for a TV show/Magazine article and hurt herself. Why would she even think to put it in 6th? I think her “making a lot of noise but not going any faster” complaint, was because she didn’t wind out 4th before hitting 5th. She’d probable had the tach at 2,000rpm in 5th and wondering why it’s not pulling. It only has 565lbs of torque.:dunno:

I also think she needs why wife’s boaster seat.:lmao:
