Carpeted Dash Mat Question

My '98 RT has a small red light on top of the dash close to the gauges, which flashes when the factory alarm is armed.

I was looking at Snake Oyl Products dash mat and noticed that there is only a cutout for the defroster vents and nothing for the alarm light.

Carpeted Dash Mat (Gen2 Viper) :: Dash mats :: Interior & Safety :: Snake-Oyl Products :: Dodge Viper Products, Parts, Accessories

Is this alarm light standard factory or was it added by the previous owner.

Does anyone have the carpeted dash mat and, if so, what did you do for the light?

Thanks.:headbang:

I have an alarm light centered on the top of the dash. I assume it is stock since i dont have an aftermarket alarm.

For the same reason that some folks use a sunshade in the windshield....it keeps the dash from heat-checking or cracking, The $1-$10 screens, or $49 mat is cheaper than a new dash.... a hole-punch can fit the stock alarm LED.

{and a mat is not as slippery for your sunglasses, etc!}

I've been using a dash mat on all my vehicles for about 15 years ... EXCEPT the Viper. Bought one for it when I got it, but didn't like the way it looked. They're great for the DD- cut down on sun hitting directly on the dash and also on glare when you're driving. Besides, dust doesn't show on the mat like it does on the dash. If you get a high quality mat made specifically for your car, it really doesn't detract at all ... even looks kind of nice.

Reactions seem kind of mixed, and my car is garaged 99% of the time so I am not concerned with sun damage. Only considered because there is alot of sun glare onto the windshield making it kind of tough to see out on sunny days. And, with those really great designed sun visors, once you pull them down there is almost no windshield to look out of.:dunno:

Still thinking!

Thanks for the comments...appreciate it.:D
