Speedo working but odometer and trip not...

Speedometer on my 2000 GTS works fine
Mileometer hasn't changed from 1063 since i've owned it from march
Car has been converted mostly from road to track some time ago and has done 15120-15200 miles according to the local UK Dodge dealer
Dealer says issue is with gauge itself as car has live, ok pulsing input (that's measuring the miles done, on the ECM), but needs to get to the back of the gauge to test across all the terminals.

Anyone have any experience of this issue?

about as bad as when I wanted to change my guage faces on my 1400 mile gts cause I read it was soooooo easy to do, realized after prying apart the housing how crappy it looked so bought a used guage off viper larry that he said had only 1200 miles cept when it came it had 12000 instead, oops he said I guess I looked at it wrong and forgot to tell you. managed to buy a new set a couple months ago from elsewhere but still choked

Yep, disappointing, especially when the ad on VCA classifieds said it was like new, with only 1083 original miles on it:


"For those of you who would like a track car fully prepared for NASA or SCCA wheel to wheel racing at a great price, here is the car for you. It’s a 2000 GTS and is like new with only 1083 original miles. It’s fully prepared, all safety equipment with current certification, new tires and wheels (one practice session). This car is turn key and needs nothing.

It was bought new and driven 500 miles on the street before being made into a race car. The car was originally prepared for T1 by Exoticraft when new, competed in two races, then was completely rebuilt for SCCA/ Viper Challenge wheel to wheel specs by Archer Racing."


and especially from what i considered to be 1 of a very small handful of top Viper performance outfits over there (not Archer). If it only did 1063miles on the road before being taken to track for the other 14000 then it could be worrying, but over 13 years....i don't know, but still worth it at the price i paid......despite not getting ANY of the mentioned certificates AND any other paperwork with the car.

Most important thing at the moment is to get the gauge working.....

Can a gauge be fixed or is it always replace with 2nd hand (no new ones left apparently), with suitably low reading?

Swapping the gauge faces is easy except the tachometer. Just curious if your exaggeration was directed towards my write-up. I can't fathom how you would break the Speedo unless you man handled the needle.

And OP you probably need a new gauge if the signal is good. Check with Scharf Automotive.

Yep, I would not be very happy! Someone is not telling the whole story!
