Keepin 95 Alive Build

Well guys I'm new to this board but not the car world. I know a few guys on here from the mustang world. I always liked Vipers, 1st and 2nd gen that is. I remember seeing the first 3rd gen on the street and thinking it wasn't for me.
So over the years I have been looking for the right deal. I wanted one I wouldn't be into for as much as I am in some of my other cars. I wanted a car to get in and go, a nice NA setup.

Well a guy in my town had this 95 RT10 he bought new in 97. It was a car he left here at one of his homes and only drove it a hand full of times a year. Well since he was spending less time up here and more at FL and Cali it came time to sell the house and the few cars he had here. Car did more sitting than anything the last few years and it shows. And I hate the Dark Green so I will be painting it.

So my plan here is
-Paint New Snake Skin or Stryker Green
-New Nose (gts gen2 style)
-Smooth Sides with exhaust holes from Autoform
-Headers
-Stainless 3 inch exhaust I'll make
-Cutting in factory hood Scoops
-Gen5 wing from Autoform
-Newer wheels (got a set of 03s)
-Inter redone black
-Seats lowered
-Roll Bar

Few pics

Got new wheels. Those of you that know me well, know I'm a die hard factory wheel guy. I love newer wheels on older models. So I started looking for the 03-up wheels. Well seeing how pony23 was doing his brakes and already had the wheels off his viper. I nudged him to upgrade his wheels so I could buy his old ones.

Too late on the hood. Scoops should be here soon. But I got the fist cuts down.

To each their own...and good luck with the project.

I have to ask about the hood modifications. I was under the impression that the Gen 1 and gen 2 hoods were different enough that the scoops, etc didn't fit from one to the other.

Me? I find it disturbing to hack up a good Gen 1. I'm not big in the green, either but just couldn't bring myself to modify or repaint it. I looked a long time for a good Gen 1 before I bout mine.

No "hacking up" here. Not my first rodeo

If it was red or black I may not have wanted to paint it. But the green is awful and the truck lid has some odd bubbles coming through.

Im happy for anyone that can be happy with a car in stock form, thats just not me. I can't drive something that anyone else can just go out and buy. All of my toys are one off creations and this Viper won't be any different.

Hard to tell but the lower lip is 2 inches longer. And fog lights are better. But I need to find them too

I understand wanting it to be different. It ***** pulling in to a car show or cruise night and having to park next to all those other 95 green Vipers.

Welcome and best of luck with a rebuilt. Keep us posted with a progress. I would love to see the end result.:2tu: In my opinion viper is viper even if it is green, blue, black or red.

I actually like the Green. If it were me, I would have spent the appearance mod money on performance mods instead. Nice clean looking GEN I's are getting harder and harder to come by.

Good luck with your project.

P.S. What do you have done to that Stang in the background? I have a 91 Notch that is the same color green as your Viper.

I never noticed that difference, but now that you point it out, it's pretty obvious. You learn something new every day :)
Looking good! Keep posting new updates and photos! How are you going to mold in the hood vents, since the gen2 hood has a little depression in those locations so that they sit flush with the hood.

I'm going to bond them smooth because I never likes the look of that outside lip. The vents I have coming at from autoform and are glass so it's bonding glass to glass so they will be perfect. I'll post pics once the parts show up

Looks good, my friend has the same year and color, I like the emerald pearl green, he
Said that it is a rare color and only 3% of total vipers built were painted that color. What kind of engine mods were you plaining?

Add a zero to that % for 95. 94 it was around 5% and 92 was very rare (I wouldn't have cut a 92 hood)

In 95 1577 made in 95 307 were green.

92 there was only 1 green out of 285

94 there was 133 green out of 3083

By 96 dodge used up all that ugly green on every truck they sold! Lol

Ahhhh, I see. If you did a turbo Stang 15 years ago, you my friend are a pioneer. They are common now, but nobody had them 15 years ago. Great car. Good luck with the Viper project. I'm sure you will have fun with it. Make sure to post pics of the progress.

Still didn't get the vents from Autoform. But I was cutting the seat up to lower it. So I started cutting the hood.

The emerald green color code is Viper specific. The emerald green for all others is one letter different. Viper: PGQ.

Im sure it is, but it still doesn't make the color any better IMO. In 95 it was a very cool color, I remember everything that dark green was cool.

with how cheap these Gen1 cars are now. this kind of stuff is bound to happen. I'll reserve judgement until we see the finished product.

Talked to Autoform today, such great guys to deal with. They said they will get the hood parts out for me before the side skirts and wing so I can keep going on the hood.

Working on mounting the seats so my 6'3 ass can sit in this thing without looking over the windshield. Seat are apart and I need to pull the carpet to get the lower part back where I want it. Need to remove under padding.

What a shame. It looked like a nice car to start with. Keep cutting as I think it will only help the value of the other Gen 1's out there.

Not doing anything Dodge didn't do themselves. Dodge put the vents on these hood to help with the heat, dodge went to smooth side skirts because the black was ugly. Dodge even stopped doing the ugly hunter green. Think of it as updating if that makes you feel better. And dont kid yourself, this care was never going to be worth any where near what it was new. Its not a collector, its not one of the rare color combos or build years. Its just a gen1 that is now getting a 2nd chance at life.
