dynoed the 2003 after comp coupe cam again

An increase of 70 WITH the heads. Or go with Strikers and gain considerably more than that...:) Or go with a turbo setup AFTER you build the short block...

    N/A Motor Build - 700 rwhp???

Cool; yes Jeff does a great job porting HIS OWN DESIGN heads..;) Those heads do work really well... Great shots of your car...I'm generally not a fan of the black wheel thing, but they really suit yours and look great! Ronnie

    N/A Motor Build - 700 rwhp???

Factoring in the minimum 400 pound difference between the 2 trucks (Reg. Cab vs. a Quad Cab), your numbers are correct based on both trap speeds and on r.w.h.p. comparisons, and equate to a 50 horsepower difference. As in Post # 111 above- there is an approx. 50 horsepower difference between...

    N/A Motor Build - 700 rwhp???

Yes, that is correct; it is the same individual who designed the Strikers and the Gen IV heads. So basically he saw limitations with the Gen IIIs, and came up with the Strikers. And when the Vipers were no longer competitive with the new Vettes, the Gen IV heads were created (which are very...

    N/A Motor Build - 700 rwhp???

Yes, that is correct sir and I am not really surprised that you question the results. It's all good... Engine power is all about breathing and primarily the heads/induction systems. The problem here is that often MANY components are changed all at the same time during a build and it becomes...

Dyno proof of HP gain from Ported Intake?

A gain 10 and 10 @ 5000 with a loss of torque in the 3000 r.p.m. range; As tested by DC Performance with a extrude honed intake by Form & Function and a divider behind the t. body. Used with an o.e.m. unported set of heads...

    N/A Motor Build - 700 rwhp???

Hi, Lots of talk about dynos here. In the end they are a tuning tool. Dynojets are typically 10% higher (around here), than Mustangs or a Dyno Dynamics dyno, like we use. So regardless of what a given dyno spits out, I use the numbers to check if a mod helped or hurt. And as mentioned, dyno...

    N/A Cam setup??

Hi Greg, I am more than familiar with the various lifter designs and how they operate and I am not disputing the necessity of a solid in a BIG power/HIGH r.p.m. application. It used to be far more of an issue before hydraulic rollers came out because H.R.s can follow some fairly high velocity...

    N/A Cam setup??

Solids??....hmmmm. The idea of the high bleed-down o.e.m. hydraulic lifters IS to make the cam appear smaller (and of course to pass emissions) and give the engine mild street manners. So, how big are the hydraulic cams being used that need to be changed to solids to give them "better street...

    N/A Cam setup??

So now they are giving the crank even more oil on the Gen IVs with their new bearing design... I didn't know that the mains were in any danger of starvation on the Gen IIIs..:dunno: Ronnie

    N/A Cam setup??

Greg Good- Thanks for the info. There are very few people willing to share good information and that is unfortunate. In a hundred years, none of this will matter...:) 1BAD- That's right, dynos are tuning tools for before and after results and a great place to see if an engine is...

    N/A Cam setup??

There are zero driveability issues except you can blaze the tires at will. :) I went with a small custom grind cam (226 @.050 with a wide LSA) to build torque in my truck (607 wheel). It still has a slight lope at idle however. The Striker heads use a fast-burn combustion chamber so you can...

    N/A Cam setup??

Great talking to you. I was shoveling snow (-15 here) so the drag radials aren't doing much good today. ;) The track (such as it is) reopens here in May at the earliest, so there are long periods to get ready for the short racing season. The Striker Head and Custom Cam packages have been working...

    N/A Cam setup??

No surprises on my end- Yeah, "Blown" is right.. There seems to be a misconception out there, that there is a weakness in the cast o.e.m. Gen III pistons that won't allow them to stand up to the increased "power" imposed by the superchargers. That isn't the case at all, from what I have found...
