Insurance Question
Mine is with AAA. Premium is probably $2k per year but we have the most expensive insurance in the nation here in MI. And I don’t have the greatest driving record. So this is actually very cheap.- serafins

Thoughts on removing buildup on gas cap? (Pic)
So I think the stock cap is clearcoated over aluminum. So need to strip it, polish, and re clearcoat- serafins

How much of a financial “burden” has your GTS been?
Agreed. I can’t stand spending money on tires. Especially when the old tires have great tread but are dry rotted. $25k on the engine? No problem. $1500 on tires, hmmmm.- serafins

That is not a stock forged piston. The stock forged piston has a very distinctive bullseye style mark in the middle. I’d venture a guess that it’s a cast piston with valve reliefs cut into it during previous engine work. no surprise it lost a chunk right where the valve relief was cut in, must...- serafins

Buy a well maintained car, not a 0 miles car that hasn’t moved or had maintenance in 30 years, and it shouldn’t be a burden at all. I had to put tires on my car. Knew that when I bought it. The rest has been all elective stuff such as engine mods and suspension mods. Prior owner did...- serafins

Looking for info on when Creampuff engines were first built in 1999.
Fairly sure it was a hard cut off for 2000. I don’t think this was a scenario where leftover forged engines were put into 2000 model year cars. If the car was sold as a 2000, it had a creampuff engine. That’s my understanding. The switch had to do partially with emissions standards so I don’t...- serafins

Power Steering Cap Fix
Someone in this thread told me I didn’t need a resevoir and my cap was only overflowing because I had trans fluid in the system. I thought this was preposterous because I only pulled out clear fluid from the reservoir via vacuum pump. However, I just pulled my cooler during my engine rebuild...- serafins

Bleeding slave after Clutch/ Slave install
It’s a huge PITA. The system will self bleed if you pump the pedal a few hundred times. I hooked a vacuum pump to mine, set up a bottle to replenish the reservoir automatically, and pumped the pedal all at the same time. Still took 100 pumps or so to get a decent pedal.- serafins
