Hey Michael,
How about original equipment?
[Old #4709386] New #BA078730EX MSRP $69.00
Sorry can't ship batteries, but you now have DC's list price. If you go see your local Dodge Dealer, you can keep them in check with this info!

Ummm do like I did and measure the battery dimesnions and go to Walmart. $39.99 and I bought a 60 month Everstart which has 900 CCA's. Its been in there for two years and starts my Viper fine. Keep it simple man...too many people on here fret about B.S. If you feel like wasting your money, go and buy a Diehard!

Actually, be it for a tractor, jetski, or my truck, the Walmart brand type batteries work awesome. I am not saying get some $20 battery, but for $40 - $50 you should be able to snag a fine battery from Walmart, BIGGS, Meijers...etc.

Re: Recommended Battery for

By coincidence, I had my '94 battery fail on the way to a San Diego Viper slither on Friday. After being invited to the side of the freeway by a motorcycle cop (another story, but he let me go), when I got back in and tried to restart, the car was absolutely dead. A helpful driver tried to give me a jump, but I neglected to unscrew the green plastic cap from the under-hood ground post (dumb) so no help. I noticed and removed the plastic cap for the flat-bed tow truck I ordered, and almost got it started, but gave up and let him take us home. Since it was now obviously the battery, I measured, then went to Costco for a new battery. Their book listed a battery that looked identical to the Mopar unit for $49, but I bought a 950cca spiral wound battery for $99. Probably overkill, but it fits and the battery is a pain to get to.

LESSON LEARNED: In hindsight, this battery had been telling me for the last two weeks that it was going to quit. It was still cranking well, but the alarm would re-arm during the start attempt, with the associated gage word and immediate fuel shutoff. I'd have to disarm the alarm again and restart. This is my daily driver - glad it didn't happen driving to work! New one really spins the engine, and no more alarm BS.

I went with the Optima 75/35. It is a perfect fit with side terminals for Gen 1 and no liquid. Cost a little more but your Viper is worth it.
